I recently had the opportunity to try out the RGB Handheld Light Wand and I must say, I am impressed with its performance. The magnetic design of the light wand makes it easy to attach to metal surfaces and provides a stable and secure hold. The compact size of the light wand makes it easy to carry around and use on the go, making it perfect for content creators who need a portable lighting solution.
I also appreciate the tripod connector on both ends of the light wand, which makes it easy to attach to tripods or other supports for hands-free use. The controls are easy to use, although there is a slight learning curve to get used to all the different settings and options.
This is the exact same microlight that you can find from other sellers. They’re usually sold in two packs for $38 and this one ends up being $18 for one. I mean this is the exact same thing. Though it doesn’t have a sticker on the side with the brand name.
As with the other ones I had a very hard time finding a use for this light even though it’s well-made. And I will give kudos to this company for providing pictures that more accurately show the size of this light which is 4 inches. It’s a little bit small to really provide any significant lighting for photos or videos. It can possibly function as a fill light but that’s about it.
Now I will say again the the light is very well-made and has a good battery life. They are magnetic so they stick together and they stick to other objects. They put out quite a bit of light for their size for sure. But if you’re using them for anything more than an accent light you’re probably going to need at least 4 of these.
What I don’t necessarily see is much practical use to a light this small. It might be able to be a fill light for a WebCam. It is small and convenient and easy to carry. And I guess it’s bright enough for its size. But for the money you can actually buy real lights if you were trying to do a lighting set up for video.
They have the usual suspects in terms of program defects in the “effects settings” which I’m really starting to get weary of. Most of them don’t look very natural at all. The TV one looks pretty good though it starts off really slow. I guess because it’s not natural to begin with so the “cop car“ and the other light effects that are designed to resemble man-made lighting are OK I guess. I laughed and they called it a cop car instead of a police car.. And you could do some mischief with that one as these things are definitely bright enough. But natural effects like fire and lightning really do not look all that natural.
For me that seems like an answer in the search of a problem. I suspect that the company just felt like they needed to get into the micro-light game which is a shame because those things aren’t very useful to be honest. No I will say that this one is much cheaper than most of the micro lights and has better build quality.
It doesn’t come with a case which I feel like something this small could really use because you need to protect them. They have screens that can be scratched.
I mean quality wise these things are definitely five-star. Usefulness wise they are less but I wouldn’t buy them again which brings them down to the three star category. But be mindful if you have a specific use case for these and they are excellently made. They have a little Oled read out on the back that is easy to read and easy to use with simple buttons that are well-made. Never underestimate the value of a quality switch. These buttons are good. I’m really torn again because it just doesn’t seem fair to give something this well-made only three stars. I usually take a star off for something that should come with a case but does not. However, you can buy these with confidence if you have a use for them. And I would love to know if anybody has a use for these.
As a social media content creator, I need a reliable lighting solution for my videos, and the RGB Handheld Light Wand has been a game-changer. With its full-color spectrum and dimming capabilities, I can easily adjust the lighting to create the perfect mood and atmosphere for my videos. Plus, its rechargeable battery makes it a sustainable choice.
This is a cool light, but it feels a little cheap and plasticky compared to other LED lights I have tried. It's magnetic on both ends, so that is nice, but it only comes with one connector - a clip with a rotating head, and no cold shoe for attaching it to a camera. You control it with four buttons on the back, and there's a tiny display, but it just shows battery strength and minimal other info about brightness and temperature. I have similar lights that are much more readable and informative. Also - there is no app control so you have to manually set it up and can't work it remotely. All in all, a neat thing to have, but I do believe there are better options out there.
