Out of the 2 small springs, the most important one, the one that makes the locking teeth do their job, is very weak! The “weight”?, the “pressure”? that the rope commonly puts on the locking teeth spring now unfortunately allows the rope to slip too far before it finally bites in. I am assuming it doesn’t do it if you are climbing straight up, the normal climbing rope straight up and down but it usually does slip if using it to climb a tree. This tool with maybe a 10 to 15 foot safety line wrapped around the tree back to your chest D-ring/O-ring or climbing seat. Needing to lock in before trimming a branch, before preparing to anchor a long directing line around the tree (not talking about this shorter rope locked to your climbing seat) or before preparing to cut the top of the tree off.
Just remember, after physically pulling back on the rope, holding it with the other hand?… push down on the locking teeth with that other hand instead of depending on the spring to do the job of the locking part.
A cheap, poor design about the most important spring by the manufacturer.
