I got this specifically so I can cut my dogs nails instead of paying the groomer to do it. But it was my mistake not thinking about the fact that he has black nails, so the light doesn't shine through. It seems like a good clipper and the shield to keep the trimmings from flying up is a nice touch. I just was not able to actually use it for my dog. It would probably work fine on lighter nails.

Take a little more effort than I think is necessary to clip my cats nails with these. They do have a light though which is nice.

Fortunately, I have a wonderful cat who will let me do just about anything to him. If you have a more ferocious furry, leave this to the professionals. Its very easy to cut too deep and hurt your pet so make sure you understand the cut lines first. I think this product was easy to use, but I gave 4 starts because I think the blade could be sharper. It took quite a bit of force to cut through the nail and the cut wasn't very clean. A sharper blade would make the cut cleaner and less force means less risk of slipping or pulling on the animal. Other than that, for the price it's great, the light is helpful, and it has a guard to prevent the nail from flying in your eye. I think this works best for very patient and trusting pets.

These clippers get the job done. The light is a wonderful feature, as is the guard. I used these on my cat and they worked well and were very sharp. However, the device itself is very faulty. There is this ON/OFF switch which is actually for opening/closing it (think like tongs). However it doesn't work and doesn't stay shut whether it's on or off, immediately from me opening them the first time. The light works great, but the plastic cover for the battery came off after I clipped two nails because of how clunky the mechanism is, and the battery fell right out. Overall it works well, but the design could use some help. I would still recommend them.

I was skeptical about the light on these pet nail clippers, but was pleasantly surprised about how much it helped. There's also a shield attached that will keep the clipped nails from flying into your face. My one complaint is that the locking mechanism sometimes gets in the way while you're working. You could clip a nail and have the clippers get stuck closed and have to wiggle the handles a bit to get it free and open again. Other than that one hang up, great product.
