So, I grabbed one of these at the $150 sale price. For that, its a very good deal. Hence why I am personally giving 5 stars. We have it hooked up to a 4k TV and use it for conferencing in our office. The cam is also 4k and it handles that with ease.
I installed a copy of Win 11 Pro from a master image that we have using Acronis. It took about an hour to transfer, hence one of the major limitations. The SATA SSD does not have a DRAM cache. At least not ours. Which is fine, but you'll bottleneck pretty quickly when moving around lots of files. Again, not the end of the world. This is not meant to be a workstation but rather a casual PC.
And for that, its pretty great...at $150.
Right now its priced at $200+. Still, not a bad deal BUT at that price point, you're opening the door to a whole other echelon of excellent products--the refurbished laptops/desktops from corporate refreshers. For example, you can snag a rather decent laptop with a 1080p screen, larger SSD, and possibly more RAM for around the same price. That also comes with the luxury of portability.
For our use case and for what we paid, its fantastic. Its discreet, capable, and extremely power efficient. But the refurb market can and will give this a run for its money if you are looking for the ultimate bang for buck.
UPDATE: So I just popped the bottom plate off (very easy, 4 phillips screws) to check out the SATA drive model (see pics) and on the chipset, it says that it supports a PCIE SSD too...so an NVME. Now that would make for an excellent upgrade path. Definitely food for thought!
