Review:
Although there are a few details slightly off from a true replica, this is a fantastic item and deserves a higher rating.
- It's impact resistant foam with a solid core, similar to larp swords. Feels durable, certainly enough to swing around and make light impacts. I wouldn't trust it with super-hard impacts though, there is some flex to the core that makes me think it might break if put under enough strain.
- The overall scale is slightly smaller than a true scale Master Sword, but it's larger and better than any other toy version of the sword I've come across.
- Aside from scale, the relative dimensions and form of the sword are VERY close to an accurate game representation from Twilight Princess & BOTW, with just a few small deviations. I have seen 250-500$ versions sold on Ebay and Etsy that are actually quite a bit less accurate than this one in terms of proportions.
- The scabbard is a thin but fairly durable plastic, with foam fitted up so that the sword will hold in place securely. The paint on the scabbard is quite good, although it bleeds outside the lines of the details a bit. The gold/brass color is quite nice, and as depicted, can look quite believably metallic if you apply an acrylic black wash to sharpen the edges and add additional depth to the gold.
- This is a great version for conventions or costumes, and has the potential to look far more impressive if repainted. The default paints are not bad at all, and quite close to the correct colors, though not as realistic and precise as my images might lead you to think.
