I got this for a friend who is really into David Bowie. He also happens to make music under 50 bucks great Christmas present it's kind of a toy but you can hook it up and use it like a real instrument you can plug it into your sound system and go if you have the right hook up you can do all kinds of stuff with this Wonder my friend loved it perfect gift. A note on the case that you can buy separately don't bother the box is so cool you'd want to keep it in the box as a novelty toy unless you went on the road with this which I highly doubt the box is excellent it comes with a little booklet of David Bowie and his whole little interaction with this toy I mean musical instrument. Definitely want to keep it in the box I bought a case and I sent it back as soon as I seen the box so save yourself the problem and don't buy a case just leave it in the box.

I got this for my boyfriend as a gift. He is in LOVE with it! Wipe both contacts with a glasses cloth when you get it, to get a nicer sound and reduce the crackling caused by poor connection. It's super funky and fun to jam on.

I finally found a good price for what is essentially a retro toy device, and being a Bowie fan, I like having the "Bowie" version. Unlike some reviewers complaining about "scratchy" sound quality, I didn't have to wipe down the stylus or keyboard. Perhaps I use a bit more pressure than most. If you let up on the pressure, it will produce a crackly sound. Maybe some users are being a little timid with the stylus at first.
What I like: one can adjust the pitch, although it is said to be tuned properly at the factory. Also, one can choose between 3 octaves, and add vibrato, for a more musical sound.
If you're expecting the sound of a concert Moog synth, buy a concert Moog synth. This unit is portable, it's fun, it's simple to learn - and I will soon plug it into an external amp, which I'm sure will give me a more robust sound and vision. (see what I did there?)

This was a last minute choice of birthday gift for my 9 year old son. Turned out to be one of the biggest hits! It’s super cool. **Read the description here where it explains that you may need to rub off a protective coating on the pen or keyboard. Seems like most of the negative reviews are a result of not doing that. It is mentioned on here but not in the instruction booklet that comes with the stylophone. Otherwise it’s super fun to play, easy for complete beginners (us!) and a great little offline toy that’s easy to travel with or whatever. Also, you can find a surprising number is songs online - just for stylophone! Cool all around, my son keeps picking it up!

Not too shabby…. Its plastic, im not sure if the high quality ones are but whatever! The sound was definitely crackly but if you read the description above^ it explains how you have to wipe the stylus and board with a cloth to remove the “protective layer”. That layer isnt visible, but the sound definitely becomes more clear after cleaning with a damp cloth and tissue for a bit. For what you pay for, its definitely fun to play with
