Wanted an alternative to water bottles, something that was simple, tough, and that didn't take a lot of room. These when empty are light and regular nalgene water bottles arent heavy, but pounces add up and they dont collapse, also they take up more room then these hydrapak. I have had these for a few months I have smashed them up in my Fire Engine compartments. I have dropped my pack with them inside, I have sat on my pack with them inside and even accidentally dropped them from time to time and they still look great. Another reason I love them is that when in fire or around smoke, the water does not get a smokey taste like a past bladder water bag I had that was a high end brand. Does not keep water cold, but neither did my regular water canteens I used to use. I would definitely recomend for any type of use.

I absolutely love the flexibility of this canteen. It rolls/folds up into a very small pouch that can easily fit into even the smallest backpack pockets/compartments. And it is very lightweight. The only negative I have is that it gives water a VERY strong plastic/rubber taste. I filled mine with Baking soda and water and let it soak overnight, which lessened the plastic/rubber taste somewhat but did not get rid of it entirely. I have noticed that the taste continues to get a little better the more I use this, but I can’t rate this a 5 star product until the bad taste is comletely gone.

Arg. Sprung a leak within a mile of the backpack trip! At the location, when you first look at it, you suspect might be its weak spot. Up at Pictured Rocks North Country trail doing the 40 mile backpack. Within first mile I feel water dripping down my leg. Take pack off and discover the HydraPak 3L was leaking. See picture. Discouraging because shuttle dropped me off and was gone, I had 40 miles to go over 3 days. Couldn't fill the HydrPak more than 2/3 full because the hiking motion of the pack and pocket it was in forced water out the hole. Not happy. It could be wondered, were you rough on it? I really dont think so. It was deep in the middle of my pack unfilled until day of the hike, where it was filled, put in my backpack water side pocket. Took the hour shuttle ride to trailhead, backpack sitting upright, so no abuse to the HydraPak. I tried to seal it with a repair patch and glue but no luck. Definitely wouldnt trust it ever again - esp. not rely on it.

Perfect for natural disaster prep/emergency kit

I just received these in the mail today, and ordered them to store filtered drinking water in my fridge in preparation for Hurricane Florence. I wish I had ordered a couple more! They're a little pricey, but well worth it considering what I can use them for AND they collapse so easily for storage later (better alternative to huge bottles that take up cabinet space). I figure it's also better to have these on hand than fight with everyone at the grocery store for what remains of water supplies. I stacked two of them in the corner of my fridge (that's 8 liters of water right there!) on their sides, but they also stand up on their own ok.

The material is very thick and flexible, and the construction feels high quality. The lid locks on tightly to give you confidence that it won't leak. Perfect.

I highly recommend adding keeping a few of these on hand for your emergency kit.

Compatible with Katadyn BeFree

I really liked the Katadyn BeFree filtration system, but I didn't like how they only offer a 0.6L or 1.0L bottle. Having a collapsible bottle is good for that system, mainly because you want to be able to squeeze every last drop of water out. I tried another Hydrapak bottle (~0.7L) which still seemed too small (also, it leaked at the junction where the mouthpiece and bottle met) -- I was refilling it more often than I would like. So, I called Katadyn and asked them what my options were. They pointed me to the Hydrapak Seeker. This is a much more rugged bottle than the other Hydrapak bottles. The walls just feel like they can take a beating. It's still collapsible into a small pouch, which comes with the bottle. More importantly, it doesn't leak, and it seems to be a great size for backpacking and filtering water without having a bottle that's too bulky to use, but you also don't need to refill constantly.
