How to apply

Note:

首先，这个清洗剂是有用的，衣服洗后比较干净，但防水剂的作用我不太确定，因为是新衣服，防水效果正好，所以防水剂的作用还不太确定，但还是有那么点作用的。

Product can cause staining on dark colors

This may be something you might want to watch out for if you are protecting dark colored items. The item that I was protecting was an Aerostich R3 Light suit for motorcycling. From the pictures, you can see that it is black; and after washing it in Tech wash then washing with the protective TX Direct light stains were left on the garment. I called Nikwax about this and the representative stated that this can occure when the fabric is saturated with product. These stains will not just wipe off, and the Nikwax representative said only with light abrasion will they come off. They offered to send me more product free because the only way to recover the original color was to wash the suit again with normal detergent to remove the water repelent coating and begin the process again. I could not accepth their offer for time constraints on my part.

The last picture shows a product with a buckle made with a similar material, Cordura 200, without any waterproofing agent as a color comparison of what the Aerostich suit looked like before entering the waterproofing process (a dark black with no stains).

The product works as stated and I do not have any complaints about the functionality. As the suit is used for commuting on my motorcycle the stains do not bother me because of the dirty environment of the highway.

This is just an FYI.

Upon taking my jacket out of the washing machine, my carpet and auxiliary wash basin of the laundry room was literally coated with flecks of my Patagonia jacket. It has ruined the jacket! I immediately called the 800 number at Nick wax and spoke to them about the results. I also sent them photos of the debris. What will happen next is pending. ***UPDATE!!!*** I was assured by the Nikwax team that this was not the fault of the Nikwax products, rather it is due to the age of my jacket and delaminating is a natural occurrence for a jacket of that age. It was suggested by the Nikwax team that I call Patagonia and discuss it with them. They even gave me the number of Patagonia as a gesture of help and kindness. When I spoke with customer assistance at Patagonia, they confirmed everything that Nikwax had told me. Moreover, they told me that Nikwax products are good products, and they even recommended them!
So, to summarize, I STAND CORRECTED!

Immediate results. The tec wash really cleans well and then adding the protection brought my rain gear back to new if not better. Was able to do 5 garments and had enough to do my patio umbrella.
