Great case for the Switch and Hori’s Split Pad Pro
2020年6月20日 -

After watching the YouTube Channel “It Came From A Box” about this case, I went in head first and bought it through their link. I have also watched “Satisfye’s” channel coz they mentioned too that the Elite Pro Bundle bag for the OG Switch also fits the Switch with the Hori split pad pros. And being also a believer in Satisfye’s products (have both Elite Bundles for the OG Switch and Lite), I did try it but it puts some pressure on the split pad pros in 2 ways, going inwards (meaning from left and right going to the Switch tablet), and also on the ZR and ZL triggers going upwards, due to the top part mould of Satisfye’s bag. It’s "doable”, but really not ideal.
So after receiving this case by Butterfox, I immediately tested it and by far, it is just moulded exactly in the shape of a Switch with the split pad pros on. No unnecessary pressure anywhere on the Switch, and on any of the buttons, face up and top bumpers and triggers. Perfect!... well, almost.
Like the other reviews mentioned below, the size and shape of it is spot on, and I can attest to it. Like literally no play (which is a good thing) as your device fits in it like a well fitted glove. But also like the other reviews on this, a few gripes, which I think is very important.
1. It is not as sturdy as many would hope for. If any of you have bought the Tomtoc slim case for the OG Switch, now that’s hard and tough! Cannot compare it with Skull&Co’s, cannot compare it with Satisfye’s, or Mumba’s, or Bioniks cases or bags. If I somehow found a way to drop that Tomtoc slim case on my face, I’d probably get a shiner for it. I’d wish this Butterfox case was as sturdy and semi-rigid as that case. Then I could give the sturdiness a full 10 out of 5.
Easy to hold? Well not exactly. And this poses 2 major issues. One, since its not as sturdy and rigid as many would hope for, most wouldn’t take the risk of this getting squished in a packed backpack or any bag for that matter (unless for bags that has a bit of hard or semi-hardshell compartment, like a System-G backpack). So in that case (no pun intended), if one might carry this by hand, the second issue is there’s no optional wrist strap attachment, no handles (like the Satisfye, Skull&Co, and Bionik has), and no option for a shoulder strap (like Satisfye and Bionik has). So best of luck running around the city with this clutched on one hand or under an arm, coz it will fall, and since it’s not AS sturdy as mentioned above, you’ll have to have some luck coz you’re gonna need it.
But is it a good case for the Switch with Split Pad Pros, well yes, kind of... its the only option we have at the time of this writing (20th June 2020). But it can be better.
Make it as tough, rigid and as protective as a Tomtoc slim case, put a collapsible, securely stiched, easy to hold handle, put a separate ring for a wrist attachment jig, put a pair of D rings securely stitched to the bottom of the case for a shoulder strap (bottom, not top) to make it easy to get to the device while its on your shoulder, a deeper underside compartment to store a slim power bank, and you would have gotten yourself a killer product indeed. Not that it’s not great as it is, but it can always be better.
PS. I’m a person who’s always moving around alot, so I need to think in advance and consider different use-cases (pun intended) for anything I think worth investing on, coz you’ll never know when you actually need a feature, up until you’re in “that spot” and think... “gosh, I wish I had thought of that sooner” situation. So my opinions may differ (to each his own, right).
But if you are buying this thing, to keep the dust bunnies away from your device, it’s slick, its a no brainer. Fits amazing <period> <full stop>

You don't have much choice so just go ahead and get it despite my review.

The unit I received arrived "flattened" and cannot keep its shape. There is a slight curve on the top which prevents it from keeping its shape. This might be a poor design or a defective unit. I don't know but its enough to give the 2 stars. Its just not worth the attempt at returning it during the pandemic and there aren't very many options out there for cases that can hold a Switch with the Hori split pad replacement controllers.
At least its functional...

Switch + Hori Pad = You need this case

Perfect if you own a Hori Split Pad Pro & don’t plan to lug power adapter around. I travel with Ravpower Power Bank myself.
Holds cartridges & USB-C cable or earphones too.
Solid & sturdy outer casing, not soft but also not a hard shell. Seems well built, good materials. Should hold up well over time, especially if you take good care of it.
Switch + Hori pad together are pretty big. This case does a nice job of not adding too much bulk. Still, it will feel large nonetheless.
Definitely recommend if you have that setup.

I got the Daemon X Machina controller the day that it came out. Well, that's not true. Amazon was sold out of the controller, so I had to import it from a popular import website. But the day that I got it in the mail, it has not come off of my Switch. I searched high and low for a case that would hold my Switch and this controller. I tried to have one made on a site that makes items, but it was prohibitively expensive going that route too.
As far as the case goes, it's great. It's a hard case, emblazoned with the company logo (a fox). It has what feel like heavy duty zippers. Opening the case, there is a zipper case that can fit ear buds, and on the reverse side is a soft cloth to protect the screen and this Velcros closed to hold the system in place. Underneath where the system is housed are cloth pouches that hold 10 games. The case is very utilitarian. The system doesn't jostle or juggle and is held in place. There isn't any pressure on the buttons or the analog sticks. Finally, the handle that you use to hold the case is very nice. This is a steal for $20!
I would like to thank the company for making this. I have put in the time looking for a case that was sleek, stylish and could house a Switch with this specific controller attached. Thank you for making this case. You could have just made the case alone and been done, but adding in the slots for the 10 games and the zipper pouch/screen cloth side are nice bonuses.
This is a great case, and I heartily recommend it. I would recommend it even if it wasn't the ONLY option for people who want to use their Daemon X Machina controller on the go, since it is the only option, it's a no-brainer.
EDIT: 90+ days later and still not a single issue. I have dropped my case a couple times and there hasn't been any damage to the Switch or the controller inside. No zipper issues, no defects of any kind. It has been rock solid, and I zip/unzip it several times every day. No issues at all. Solid, well-made, dependable. Definite buy.

Finally a custom case to fit Switch + Hori Split Pad Pro

Been looking forever for a case that could hold the Switch with Hori Split Pad Pro controllers connected. There's the Satisfye case, but that's not an exact fit (and a bit tight) according to people that have tried it, and other generic cases that fit, but not exactly (so either too tight, or a bit of wiggle/movement). So glad to finally find this case, it's been perfect. Perfect shape to hold the Switch with the Split Pad Pros connected, not loose, and not too tight. There's also a bit of padding on the bottom to make everything sits flush, as well as padding on the top to cover the screen (since the screen isn't flush with the controllers and a bit sunk in, so everything is all flush in front as well. As a bonus, the front flap (and the back padding) can also hold the Pro cons in place even without a Switch in the middle, so you could use it to just transport/protect the Split Pad Pro when not in use.
