So far I'm liking these controllers. I've only been messing around with them about a month and in that time I had one incident with the batteries. It may have been an isolated incident of the batteries themselves as I bought rechargeable ones. Usually you don't need to charge them until after their first life cycle so maybe that's why they died prematurely. After charging them up I've had pretty good life from them, yet to be charged again.
I put red tape on one set and left the other blank to identify as some ppl have said they interfere with each other if you mix the receivers up. I haven't tested using both simultaneously in co-op yet so I'll have to come back to that once I can confirm no interference issues.
The comfort is great and the responsiveness seems spot on. I've only encountered two issues that may be worth mentioning. One is that I swear sometimes the analogs go a little wonky from time to time. The problem is I've only encountered this with aiming in cold fear and Spyro a heroes tail. It didn't always happen either so it could very well be those games as I've played a few others with no noticeable issue. The last things kinda miniscule as it's that the battery compartment on one of the controllers is very tight and can be a bit tricky when closing.
Hopefully this helps someone out there. For the price point of under $30 you can't really go wrong. They play just as good, if not in most cases better than the originals. Here's to hoping they continue to perform well.
The controllers are modeled after authentic Sony Dualshocks, which is a good thing. However, they do not compare to the build quality or reliability of the wired Sony Dualshocks.
So far these controllers have not failed on me yet, but there is a blatant issue that can be a dealbreaker for most people. That issue is input lag. I have not measured the milliseconds of lag the controllers have, but it is pretty noticeable. You do not want to use these controllers when playing a first-person shooter on the PS2, because your accuracy will not be good. I only use these controllers for games that don't necessarily require input precision, and they work good for that.
Overall, the input lag is what really brings these controllers down a star for me. I can't get past the cheap plastic and the lack of a rechargeable battery, but the input lag is something I can't get past. It definitely can impact the way you play.
