It works on my 880

So this thing works wonders on my 880 but makes my 330 worse. So I’m at a loss here. Maybe it works better with older model I dunno. On my 880 I tune in to 3330 can’t hear anything, turn it on it comes in clear. 330 I can here it with the antenna on the radio. With this antenna it becomes distorted. I can say the knobs do work but really touchy. It’s cheap feeling, can take much abuse of any. The stand is useless. But like I said works great for my 880

This is s cute little receiving antenna . Its very portable, if some what flimsy. I connected it to the receive only antenna port on my Icom IC-7610 tranceiver (it's great that the antenna comes with a BNC adapter). I was unable to hear any LF stations because there aren't any around here. Also I did not hear any HF stations, probably because or the time of day and the state of the ionosphere. It worked on the AM (MF) band. It received week stations without overloading on the strong local stations. I found it possible to null out local noise by rotating the loop, but it was difficult to keep the antenna pointing in the right direction. The null is pretty sharp. The pre-selector tuning function works, but the tuning is difficult on SW. As for noise, I have a lot of noise sources in the house, so its's hard to tell how much the antenna might be adding, I'll have to try it with a consumer portable SW radio away from the city. The IC-7610 is a direct samplings software defined radio that has excellent performance. It does not benefit from the pre-selector function, but most consumer SW listening radios will. The Icom receivers will work pretty well with just a short piece of wire for an antenna, so it should have shown up any deficiencies of the antenna. This antenna has no provision for an AC adapter only battery power, but that will work fine for most people.

I've been using this with a HackRF to listen to hams out there chewing the rag and pounding away on CW. Honestly, for an inexpensive, super compact receive antenna, it works amazingly well. Due to the small size of the dials on the tuner/amplifier, it can be a bit fiddly tuning in the antenna, but once you do the difference is really quite amazing. I use it inside my bedroom hanging from a lamp right next to a whole mess of electronics around my computer and the receive quality is excellent. It really works well around the 80 meter band. In fact, it works far better than a number of much larger shortwave antennas I've used on it. I haven't done much on a regular SDR with it yet, but I have to believe it would work quite well for that as well. It really is a good buy for someone extremely limited on space who wants to tune into the ham bands, or any shortwave bands really. Due to it's incredibly small packed size, I also bet it would be fantastic for out and about usage as well. It is quite directional, but with the included hook and clip, it's easy enough to turn in any direction to catch a hard to nab signal. Gets a solid recommendation as far as I am concerned.

I'm pairing this antenna with a TECSUN PL-368 radio. I've hung the antenna as high up as I can in the best window I have. Setup is easy. The four sides of the loop do not come out quite straight, but close enough.

The antenna does work, I can hear the difference it makes, the tuner knob has much more effect than the signal boost knob. But it doesn't make a lot of difference, fifty percent on some weak AM stations, but for most, and for shortwave, no more than five or ten percent, often less.

The antenna might do much better in a more conducive environment. My home is not well situated for short wave listening of any kind. Your mileage may vary.
