Im 62 yrs. old. Have been gaming since there were games. Yes, this headset is pricey. But if your a gamer you owe it to yourself to get these. In all my years of gaming, building computers and basically always in search of "the best". I've never been so blown away by a single peripheral as this headset. I could go on and on, but won't. So whatever means you have to do to justify buying these. DO IT. You will not be disappointed. Just a tip. Install the Armoury software and set them to your liking. Be sure to set them to 7.1 etc... Enjoy!

Headset is amazing, just one problem

So far, the headset sounds amazing, my voice sounds crystal clear to others, and the virtual surround sound is amazing once you install the amoury crate software. However, it's been a little over a month and my recordings sounds VERY bugged. The noise skips and creates a replica of the proper sound but in a very low quality manner. In simple terms, it's extremely bugged.

I am hoping that it is a firmware issue that I installed the 17th of July, 2020. I say that because I believe that may have caused the bugging for the recordings. I will see what I can do and try to fix it. If this continues, and I can't find a fix after the next firmware update. I'll sadly have wasted $150 and will need to buy a new one. I will come back and change the rating from 2 to 5 if there's a fix.

*EDIT 8/20/2020*
It turns out that my computer was at fault here. It was not the headset. I bought a new PC, and the headset worked just fine there, and the recordings as well. I factory reset my laptop and the recordings sound perfectly fine again. So again, it was NOT the headset's problem. It's working great again!

Asus/ROG seasoned customer/gamer - Lacking durability

I'd like to start of with saying that I am very biased towards Asus/ROG as I generally exclusively buy thier products. I constantly recommend thier products to friends and family being the tech support person. My old headset which lasted me 6 years finally killed over back in mid December, right around when this was set to release. So I decided to pick this up as it looked really nice multifunctional in comparison to all the other Asus headsets (my previous wasn't asus and is no longer in production by a few years now). It is pretty expensive, but so my was last one which lasted 6 years so I figured I could expect roughly the same. I got it on January 3rd and was blown away by it. I am a seasoned PC gamer as well as twitch streamer, and began using it right away. The audio quality is amazing, the headset is super appealing and comfortable. I have a phone that uses USB Type-C to charge so I used the headset on my phone as well to much success. The quality of the mic is also outstanding for a headset, I would say on par with a stand alone mic. I treated this headset with great care and respect when handling it. Three months later it started having severe issues. Now when I use it the connection will drop sporadically, however the lights remain on constantly. If I am able to get sthe headset to function I am unable to move a muscle or it will most likely drop out. When it drops out it causes performance issues with my games and software, even crashing them about 50% of the time. I then have to wiggle around and keep disconnecting and reconnecting the headset in attempt to get it working again. I would not recommend this product to anyone looking to use it on a daily basis as the price is just too high for it to be so fragile. I hope this review helps.

First of all let me say Asus you knocked it out of the park with this headset truly amazing craftsmanship. I game mostly on PS4 with the occasional PC gaming, I was looking for a headset that was different, I’ve owned the Arctis Pro +gamedac, Arctis Pro Wireless and currently the Sennheiser GSP 670, by far the best sounding set I’ve had went to the Sennheiser which I still own. But enter the Asus Theta comparing both playing PUBG on PS4 and there was a clear stand out winner for positional audio, Asus having 4 individual drivers in each ear was amazing the sound flows smoothly around the headset and directional audio is the best I’ve ever heard with the biggest sound stage I’ve ever experienced. The Sennheisers are awesome don’t get me wrong the key here is you using 2 speakers in traditional headsets for gaming 1 in each ear cup. 2 speakers can’t replicate surround and location properly much like a 2 channel home theater system. But with 8 speakers each with their own channel now you’ve got something special. Finally a headset that stepped away from what everyone else was doing and did something amazing! Asus if you read this don’t ever change.
