I looked at this item for a long time, then projects were coming my way- where I really needed it, and works great. This extension bar is sturdy to be used with my heavy tripod, ball head and heavy camera & lens, and to use a counter weight. The two other adjustable camera mounts are made to come off or put one at the other end to help use as at counter weight. This is not for lightweight tripods or lightweight light stands. The end mounts have 3 set screws, one was coming out, so I put small piece of tape over each screw, to keep them in place when not in use. I bought this just in time for photographing negatives on a light pad - and for a large object placed on floor and the arm extended out longer. My camera has an L bracket & I use a rail to attach to the bracket, which makes it easier for small adjustment height of the camera. This way i am not adjusting 3 tripod legs or the main center tube which holds all the weight. In the future, the 2 adjustable camera mounts will come in handy.
