one dead watch

I bought the watch about 4 months ago. I chose this one because I liked the look. I liked the double cover feature because it allowed me to set it up on my desk or nightstand. Last week, I went to wind it as usual. When I released the stem, it spun backwards. The watch will no longer wind. Something has gone wrong inside. I am retired. I have not worn the watch while working or exercising. I have not even worn it every day. It has by no means been subjected to hard use. I have been careful about not over winding it. Even though it only cost $30, I think it ought to have lasted more than 4 months before becoming useless.

Impressive build for an exceptional price

They say you get what you pay for, and I agree, to a point. This is neither the cheapest nor the more expensive pocket watch out there; however, I couldn't ask for anything more. The open front and back allows for the mechanical aspect to be seen from both sides. I love analog, mechanical devices, and this does not disappoint. The face can be difficult to read in poorly light rooms, but I did choose a design that was dark on dark, so it was obviously going to be difficult to read in some circumstances. I have noticed that if I am on the tractor, blading the driveway for hours, the vibrations tend to jump the watch to an inaccurate time, but I understand why, and I cannot fault the watch for that. It brings me fond memories of my father and his pocket watches when I was a kid. Definitely worth the money for me. For the style, I would expect to pay a little more than I did.

Great Father's Day Gift!

I bought this for my dad for Father's Day, and he loves it! My dad loves watches, pocket watches and clocks. He really loves timepieces that he has to wind up manually. I loved the look of this one and the fact that it was mechanical (no battery required). My dad didn't have a black pocket watch until he opened his Father's Day present. He loves it! He never understood why the back would open on some pocket watches until I told him that the back opened so that it could stand up. He loves being able to see the mechanics working. He loves the colors. And he loves that he doesn't have to open the watch to see the time because there are roman numerals on the front of the watch so he can see the hands moving and see what time it is without opening it. The watch arrived a day or two before delivery estimate and it was in near perfect condition - just a couple spots to buff out before I gave it to my dad and then it was perfect (it did come with a polishing cloth). All in all, I'm an very happy with my purchase and would do business with this seller again.

Pretty good for the price

First the positives:

I love the design and face. Super easy to read, and very helpful in tracking time for short periods. I work with dogs, and sometimes noting the rough time is essential when it's super hot or cold out and the dogs need to be rotated in and out. This watch is very helpful for keeping track of thirty minute increments for this reason. Much easier than my phone. Also the design is very neat and beautiful.

Now the negatives:

I got one and it was great, used it for a week with no problems, but then my stepfather misunderstood and thought I had gotten it for him. Oops, but no problem, it was cheap enough that I just bought another for myself. The second is a bit sticky when opening, where the first wasn't. Which isn't that bad, because it doesn't need to be opened much. Also, the first I didn't see any problems with the time. I wound it every day at midnight and checked the time, no problems, the second I wind twice a day at noon and midnight and I have to reset it every third day or so. Also not too bad, since it was cheap, but may be a deal breaker for some. Like I said, I didn't see any of these issues with the first one I had, but I only had it a week, so quality may vary over each watch. I'll take these minor problems for the price to try out the watch and see if I like pocket watches (spoiler, I do).

Does not keep very good time.

I bought this a month ago,
PROS:
- The watch works fine.
- I think it looks pretty cool.
- The dark blue lettering on the black background is a bit hard to read, but I don't see this as a manufacturer problem. I chose the colors.
- I have kept it wound and running this whole time, and it still keeps running.

CONS
- It runs really fast, gaining a minute almost every day. While I don't think this watch is something to rely on for accuracy, the time gain is rather excessive.
- The watch is sealed so I can't adjust the timing to slow it down. Probably done for warranty reasons, but for those of us who know how to do this properly, it is a bit annoying.

Conclusion: The watch looks nice and runs ok, but the time has to be reset every day. A little off is ok, but not this much.
