The sisal on our cat's old scratching post had deteriorated over time to the point that our cat's claws got stuck sometimes in the loose fabric. Unfortunately, our cat does not like scratching posts covered in rope, and there are not too many good options covered in sisal. Also, the pole itself was still in good condition so we decided to try to repair rather than replace it. However, finding sturdy enough sisal fabric as replacement is almost impossible, so when I saw this mat and realized that the dimensions would (sort of) fit, I decided to give it a try. We removed the old fabric from the pole, wrapped the new mat around it horizontally, and glued and stapled it put in a few places. The mat does not cover the whole post but enough that our cat can use it again. And luckily, she likes it! - The mat was delivered quickly and in good condition. It seems to be sturdy and well made. So hopefully, our cat will be able to enjoy it for a long time.

My cat could hardly contain himself waiting for me to unwrap this, he seemed to know it was for him automatically. He immediately took to scratching. The mat is small, but does match description. The reason I took off a star is that the backing they describe to hold it done doesn’t do the job. When my cat scratches it, the mat pulls up and he turns it over, or it gets stuck to his claw and again gets turned over. Every time he uses it, it ends up upside down. So while he loves the product, I constantly have to “fix” it for him to use it again. I believe the size is just too small overall to effectively stick to the floor. Otherwise, the product itself is good and definitely attracts your cat to scratch there. I’m not sure how durable it will be for a long period, my mat came with a flaw in it to start.

My cats love it. I bought this product to cover up an are where my kitten had been tearing up the carpet. I’ve had it for a few weeks and there are no real signs of wear and tear so I think it will last a while. It covers up the area and keeps my kitten from tearing up the carpet any further. It does slide from the area a little bit but not a lot. I think it’s because I have it over two types of surfaces. I don’t like the brown colored border but that’s just my personal preference. It does sound like they are ripping up the carpet and makes me want to jump up and tell them to stop but then I remember that I want them to scratch up the mat.
