between awesome reviews and description saynig that its ok for Hermit Crabs i got this....Installed it and my hermits absolutely LOVED this. the problem....within 1 week, it was completely covered in mold. now after reading further they say if its moldy your humidity is too high... yes it is because my hermits need it at 70%. IF this product cant be in a high humidity environment, this should be clearly labled not sutable for hermts or not suitable for humid tanks. i tossed it as soon as i was able to coax my 1 hermit off and now i am checking a few times a day to make sure they r not sick or dead due to this mold ! horrible. False advertising/description put my pets lives at risk.

When I first got this in the mail I was disappointed in the size and almost returned it. I have a 10 year old iguana and it's really hard to find commercial products big enough to hold her size and weight. So when I saw this product advertised as 14"x14" I thought I could buy two & tie them together and that would be sufficient. What I got was not the size advertised. The longest part of the triangle was slightly over 14" but none of the other dimensions came close to this length. It's basically a triangle with a small square attached to it.
I realized I could put more of these together like a Tetris puzzle and it would actually be a decent size. So instead of returning it I bought two more (for a total of 4), tied them together, removed the small square from one end & attached it to the other and ended up with the perfect size hammock for a 4 ft long enclosure. It's thick enough that it holds her comfortably & her claws don't get tangled in it. I've struggled for years trying to figure out the best way to utilize the open space in her enclosure and finally found a good solution with this product.
Not many people have the problem of designing an enclosure for such a large reptile and there aren't that many products available.
4 stars because the description isn't very accurate regarding the size; the product itself is solid quality and I'm super happy with it! If you're looking for a hammock for a large reptile consider getting 4 of these & attaching them together.

Bought the hammock for my bearded dragon and he absolutely loves it. It fits the entire length of his tank and has room to go to either side. He prefers this to the triangle hammock he's had.

This is the perfect lounge for my beardie. He's 1.5 years old and I think it's big enough even if he keeps growing. One downside: the ladder isn't positioned in the most logical place. It makes sense for the ladder to be attached to the long end, not one of the short ends. I don't know what the makers were thinking, but it was an easy fix because I was able to untie the the ladder and retie it on the other side without compromising the durability of the lounge. That's my suggestion.

ROUGH, STIFF, AND OVERSIZED FOR MY NEEDS

I purchased this product with hopes it would be a great addition to my bearded dragon's penthouse. He has a nice 40 gal tank with natural branches and rocks at different elevations he can climb in order to warm and bask himself as needed.

First, the measurements given by the description do not match the item I received, which was too big for my enclosure. The measurements say its 14x14 inches. The one I received was 17x11x12 and if I count the longest from end to end - its 21 inches - at least. It is kind of awkward and big and stiff. If it was the only action going on in the tank, it might work. But my tank has branches, wood, rock, and so on to create a natural environment. The hammock was so oversized that it took up nearly half the tank, putting all the space below it in the shadows. Not good for a reptile that needs UVB light. This is unfortunate as I had hoped it would fit and work out but it didn't.

Second,I had a concern about the natural grass being a fire/heat hazard under the hot basking lamp. There are no instructions with the item (which is ok since it seems to be common sense on using the suction cups). However, I had a concern about fire hazard and what is a safe distance to hang it from the basking light. I tried to contact the company on the mobile site with my phone and the website was totally useless.

Third, Okay, sounds picky here, but the item is bulky, rough-shod, and has lots of loosely woven stiff strands poking out everywhere. And I think it would be a mess to clean. It is so stiff and rough I'm surprised it doesn't pull my skin off! So I returned mine. The measurements were all off and way oversized for my needs.

finally, I set about and made a really nice home-made hammock. It is made of a clean washcloth folded end to end to form a triangle. Then I put some brads on each of the three corners and tied string to it - attached some paperclips as hooks (McGyver style), and now I have an attractive easy to wash, hammock. It doesn't take up half of my tank or block the UVB or heat since it isn't that large. But it also retains a nice amount of heat.
My beardy Rocky loves it and slept on it all night long. I put my home made DIY hammock on Y**T*** just in case other people were having the same difficulty in finding the right stuff for their beardies or lizards.
