I bought this as a gift for my wife and she did not like the design.
On a positive note it seems to be well made and she noted that they used pretty good quality wood in the construction. Her primary complaint was that since it only held her work from the top and bottom there was no way to get it tight enough to keep it from sagging on the sides. She didn't find this much better than just holding it in her hands. So, I returned and will try to find something that works better.

One of the nicest embroidery stands on the market

I now own two of these stands and I love them! This lap stand is easily positionable to a number of different angles to make stitching so much easier. It is nicely finished but bare wood which could be easily stained if you so choose. As i have gotten older i need to use magnifiers to see the really fine cross stitch i do so I was looking for a frame to which i could clip a magnifier. This stand allows me to do that and sit comfortably on the couch or a wider chair to work.

Some people have said they can’t seem to tighten the bolts but I think that is user error. The bolts are square headed and must be tighten hard to seat the square part into the wood once that is done It is easy to tighten the wooden nuts with no slippage.

I cannot recommend this stand enough. I have been looking for this type of stand for quite a while. Attractive, practical and an amazingly decent price. It will also make a great traveling stand for workshops and longer trips.

I was pleasantly surprised how this worked. It took a little fiddling with the screws since they were not quite counter sunk enough, but it wasn’t an issue. The wood quality is great and it is very sturdy. It allows for me to work sitting in my recliner or at a desk. It is very adjustable both in height and how far forward it sits. It’s easy to flip front to back to see either side of your work. I clipped a little LED light right onto the leg and I have a perfect work space. I have been working on one piece for about a week and I have not had to tighten the fabric once. It holds very well and allows me to roll the work instead of pinching it into a hoop. I put of getting one of these for my larger pieces, and now I wish I had done it sooner. Very worth the money on my opinion.

Not suitable for needlepoint canvasses.

I bought this for a needlepoint canvas. The quality of the wood is good but like another commenter, I didn't like that it couldn't be stretched on the sides. But the biggest problem is the groove on each of the rods holding the canvas and the plastic caps that cover it. The groove left a mark on the canvas and rolling the canvas would not be possible because the plastic caps aren't big enough to hold a thicker roll of canvas. Also, most of the instructions are in Russian although that's not a problem, there is some English. It wasn't a problem figuring out how to put it together. I'm returning this item.
