Replacing my aging Microsoft Bluetooth keyboard I bought in 2012 would be easy, I thought. Nope. After trying multiple Bluetooth keyboards, it seemed like everyone had sacrificed quality for portability. The only good keyboard was the Apple Magic keyboard, which was both more expensive than I wanted and not quite my style.
Granted, the Belkin keyboard at hand is no master of style, but it makes up for it through other strengths:
1. It’s very light. The cord means no batteries, which means it’s super light.
2. Excellent typing experience for the price (I bought a used unit for $25). Reviews are mixed on this. Yes, it has more resistance than an Apple keyboard, but overall it feels robust and not like you’re pounding out a letter on a brittle piece of tin foil.
3. No bluetooth. While bluetooth can be nice, so is the ability to easily switch devices (assuming you have multiple Apple products as I do). The option of airplane mode + keyboard on the iPad is also welcome.
Cons? There’s no function key, which means the backspace key can only perform one direction of deletion.
Overall, I think this is one of the few iPad keyboards that can compete with the Apple Magic keyboard. It’s no master of style, but it’s a robust unit that is going to last much longer than a $20 Bluetooth keyboard recommended by a tech magazine. If you’re not horrified by the backwards idea of a wired device, keep this keyboard in mind.

A Surprising Winner After Trying Too Many Keyboards2019年7月6日 - 已在美国亚马逊上发表
Lightweight, Durable, works like a charm.2019年6月6日 - 已在美国亚马逊上发表
This keyboard is fantastic! It allows me to use my ipad as more of a laptop. I love that I dont have to worry about charging another device... it just plugs right into my ipad and I am ready to go! The ipad sits perfectly in the holder and looks like a lap top. The keyboard is full sized, not like one of the small keyboards that are part of the ipad case. It is lightweight enough for me to just throw in the bag with my ipad and weighs far less than my macbook pro. I am in love. The keyboard does not light up which may be an issue for some people but I have no problem seeing the keys even in low light environments. I was nervouse about this purchase but I am so happy I went ahead and did it! It is perfect for what I needed.
works as advertised2018年7月27日 - 已在美国亚马逊上发表
Found no fault with the keyboard; it worked as advertised. However, I was disappointed to learn that a keyboard used with an iPad has less effective functionality than does one used with a computer, due to the iPad design, in which the user is intended to interface with the device via the screen rather than a keyboard or mouse. The fault was my ignorance of this basic design difference between a conventional computer and a tablet.
Real Keyboard, No Guff2019年1月20日 - 已在美国亚马逊上发表
This feels like a real keyboard in touch, key spacing and solidity. It is a real keyboard. I’m a fast touch typist (I’m a writer) and this keyboard ticks all the boxes. I also like the simplicity of connection and the security if I’m ever writing stuff and someone, you know, at Panera could maybe, a stranger or government agent... Okay, the security thing is pretty hypothetical. I just like plugging it in and bam! We’re ready. This makes the iPad with a Lamicall stand (see my review) a viable writing platform.
Space bar issue, I have to really press down hard for it to activate.2019年3月10日 - 已在美国亚马逊上发表
The space bar key isn't working well on my keyboard. I have to really press down hard for it to activate. I type fairly fast and I always have to back up to insert spaces when using this keyboard. I can't re-sell it because a new user would have the same issue. The space bar key working well is pretty mission critical when using any keyboard. One star for now. I'll call customer support to see if there's something I can do to fix this and keep this review updated.
