Trekking poles are simple to use and provide a load of support for hikers, walkers, and backpackers of all ages. Whether you're crossing flat surfaces or probing uncertain terrain, they can provide stability, relieve pressure from your body, and also help to establish and maintain a consistent rhythm and increase speed. Trekking poles can help to reduce impact over time and prolong your body's capabilities. For first time users, trekking poles may not be as intuitive as one might hope.

Features and Benefits


Easy Quick Lock Mechanism Before using your poles, make sure that your locks are firmly secured. While the tip is on the ground, to ensure the lock is secure by pushing on the top of the handle so the tip presses into the ground. If your pole shortens while doing this then you need to readjust the height and tighten the lock more. Step 1. Open Tab and Adjust Fully open the quick lock tab and adjust to desired height. Step 2. Tighten Thumbscrew Tighten Thumbscrew by turning it 1/4" to 1/2" turns clockwise. Step 3. Close Quick Lock Tab Quick Lock Tab should be difficult to close when properly tightened. Step 4. Test and Readjust Apply weight to the pole. If pole begins to collapse, repeat steps 1-3 until it remains at desired height.	Which Grip is Right for You? Inexpensive, durable, lightweight

I wasn't sure if I wanted to use poles or not while hiking so I didn't want to spend a fortune on the "best" pair so I figured I'd start with these but turns out these are great and until they break I'll keep using them. I have a permanently atrophied calf so it's very underdeveloped, as well as significant issues with my ankle due to a surgically corrected clubfoot so long distance walking and any hiking becomes incredibly painful but I love the hikes so I keep doing them. Purchased these to see if it would help ease discomfort by allowing me to take some pressure off that side of my body. These have helped me be able to hike longer distances a bit more comfortably and also give me more stability on more unstable and rocky/gravely areas. They're lightweight and so far have proven to be durable although I'm 5' and 115lbs so I'm not putting a lot of weight on them so I can only speak for me. They adjust easily and maintain the adjustment and I've brought them out maybe a total of 40 hours so far on the 4ks in NH white mountains.

Best cheap trekking poles

These are lighter than most, are easy to adjust, support great force, and are cheap. What's not to like? Sure you can go buy a pair of carbon fiber fancy brand poles for 5x the price and shave off an ounce or two... but that seems rather silly given the beating I give these that they shrug off and keep working. I trail jog. I ski moguls with them. They don't give way. I've put about 400k vert feet on these and I don't descend softly... these have yet to fail me, except for the first couple days before I learned the proper setting for the adjustment levers. Sweetness!

A tip to set the adjustment levers.... turn the twisty bit down until you can barely close the adjusting levers with the strength of one hand. Then it will still be easy to adjust AND the pole will support you shock loading it many times without slipping.

Versatile for walking and hiking

I love my "sticks!" I've been using these for the last six months, about five times a week, primarily for Nordic walking on the street but also for hiking. They really help reduce the stress on my knees and they give the arms a little exercise, too. The boot shaped tips work best on pavement, I just put them on so the "toes" face backward for better push off. I added some reflective tape to the upper sections for safety.

Only cons so far are that the straps are the same on both poles- they would work better in a mirror configuration, but that's not a big deal. Also the straps are a little loose at their tightest.

I would buy again or as a gift.

Great for Improving Walking Routine

Besides a review of these walking sticks, I’m hoping to influence others to use them so I won’t be a solo “cross country” walker in my neighborhood. :) Here goes:

1. These are an excellent value and help speed up my walking routine
2. There are 2 places, with two parts each, for tightening on each pole to keep them steady
3. Using them helps me with balance, which is really important at my age (72)
4. They are an aid to walking up and down hills
5. They concurrently provide an upper arm (both bicep and tricep) workout and really help stretch my hip joints, which is already giving me a greater range of motion
6. If ever needed, these walking sticks can probably serve as a defense device

I hope you are becoming convinced to join me by making this easy but effective change to your daily walk!

Great hiking poles

Got these for our son and his fiance. We love ours, so we got them some just like them. Our son thinks he is too young to need a hiking pole, but his finance uses hers, just like my wife and I use ours. They come in handy on steep or rocky slopes, and have saved us from falls more than once. They are sturdy, but lightweight.
