This is a fascinating easy to read memoir about something I have never studied before. The author and her family were Polish Jews sent to Siberia to do labor during WWII. She describes the horror of being arrested, put in a cattle car on a train, not knowing where she and her family will be sent. Little by little they adapt to life in the Steppes of Siberia.
The story reminds me of “The Diary of Anne Frank”, in the similarity of reading levels, as well as being written by or about young girls growing up ecper ing the atrocities ofn Europe during WEII
