Good book but too long for me.

This was a good book but it had way too much information for me to process. I went from feeling motivated and excited reading about the British cycling team to just wanting the book to be done towards the end.
That being said I did find this book to be incredibly helpful. As someone diagnosed with schizo-affective disorder ( a combo of schizophrenia and depression ) cleaning began to be so difficult for me. I tried to keep up but eventually I felt like I was losing the battle. My room made me so sad every time I walked into it. It didn’t help that I moved from a bigger room with a bigger closet and more storage space for my stuff. I ended having things all over my bed with just a tiny spaced carved out for me to sleep. There were bags of clothes all over the floor. There were empty bottles or gallons of water everywhere. I just didn't have the motivation or mental energy to clean. I knew it would take at least a week to clean my room. Thanks to this book I realized like in the past just cleaning my room wasn't the problem it was my bad habits that was the problem.
I would clean my room once every blue moon only to be met with the same problem. This time while it took a week to clean I have been able to keep my room clean by tidying up for about 5 to 10 minutes a day. This has removed such a stressor in my life. I would be close to tears walking into my room. Now I'm so proud to see a clean room.
Also I picked up a habit of daily reading and walking. I still haven't been able to change my habits around cleaning the kitchen or the bathroom yet but I'm grateful for the progress.

Perfect book for the new year and starting new habits to change for the better

New Year and feeling like I needed to make a few changes in my life, This practical and insightful guide to creating lasting change in our lives through the power of habit. Clear's approach is based on the idea that small, incremental changes to our habits can compound over time, leading to significant improvements in our health, productivity, and overall well-being.
The book is divided into four parts, each focusing on a different aspect of the habit-forming process. Clear starts by explaining the concept of "atomic habits," or small, consistent actions that lead to big results. He then delves into the psychology behind habits, including the importance of identity and how to create a system of habits that supports our goals.
One of the book's strengths is its emphasis on practical strategies for implementing and maintaining new habits. Clear provides a range of techniques for making habits stick, including habit stacking, habit tracking, and creating an environment that supports our desired behaviors. He also addresses common obstacles to habit formation, such as procrastination and temptation, and offers strategies for overcoming them.
Overall, Atomic Habits is an engaging and accessible read that offers valuable insights into the science of habit formation. Whether you're looking to build healthier habits, increase productivity, or achieve your goals, this book provides a roadmap for creating lasting change in your life.

BEST BOOK ON HABITS

This book is utterly fabulous, and I'm recommending it to everyone I talk to. Read on to find out why.
I love working to improve myself and what I do, and "Atomic Habits" explains the many reasons why I have been able to change some habits and not change others. This book gives fabulous insight into how the human mind works and step-by-step how to work with our brains to get the results we want. (Hint: it's NOT the amount of time spent doing a new habit that makes it stick.)
If you are looking for a quick fix of habits, either getting rid of bad ones or instantly improving good ones, this generally isn't what you're looking for. (But, then again, if you're looking to change your habits you should already be aware quick fixes don't last.) There are a few techniques in this book that WILL have an immediate impact in some areas of your life, but overall this is about making lasting habits and therefore lasting change in your life.
You will need to take your time reading through this book (and take notes on what stands out to you), but if you take this seriously and implement the steps, you will actually see results. Remember, this is about atomic habits, so you will be making super-easy, gradual changes that will SLOWLY build to become the end result you desire. You have to be patient, and celebrate the atomic steps you put into place knowing they will amount to something much bigger in the end. And yes, if you follow the steps in this book, you really will change your habits and change your life.
