For me, I have experience with bose, bang and olufsen, and sony sound systems. I also went and tested the charge 4, marshall stockwell and the bose revolve+. In terms of the sound quality (tested at about 70% loudness)
Bose Revolve+ - typical bose sound signature. Punchy base with mildly recessed highs. Excellent sound reproduction in vocal range.
Marshall Stockwell - good bass, but not as punchy as the bose. High and midrange above average. What is good about it is it has an bass and treble dial that you can easily adjust to your liking. There is some distortion in bass noted at higher levels.
JBL charge 4:
Very warm, bass heavy sound signature. Narrow soundstage, which makes it feel like the different instruments are all sitting on top of each other. Recessed highs, probably due to how bass heavy it is.
Typical B&O sound signature. Very clear bass, mid range, and highs. Excellent soundstage, makes it feel like the sound is coming from multiple speakers. Vocal reproduction is amazing. The closest competitors would be the bose and marshall. The the difference is that the P6 sounds much richer and more lifelike. For instance the P6 makes it you wonder if the singer is live in the room with you vs the bose and stockwell sounding excellent, but you know its coming from a speaker.
Other areas worth noting:
The speaker is heavy. It definitely feels premium and build quality is excellent. There is no distortion or rattling at max volume. The
Beoplay App is useful to customize buttons and control volume/play/skip. Can set up to work with alexa/google assistant. EQ setting is terribly UN-intuitive and takes time to play with. Would be much better if they just simplified it to bass, mids, treble settings.
USB-C connectivity is a plus, and while not "quick charge" certified, it can charge up to 3A at 5V (15 watts). I used a qc 3.0 charger and the device charged notably faster. What's heinius at this price is that it only comes with a usb c cable and not a charger.
Should you buy it? It depends. I really care about audio quality and I personally like the sound signature of B&O products. Some have called it too "sterile" because of how you can easily "separate" and distinguish each instrument from each other. I just like the clarity of it.
The bose revolve+ is 100 dollars cheaper and has water resistance and drop resistance. It also uses the older micro usb charger while i prefer the newer USB C. Does the P6 sound better to me? Yes. But the P6 costs 33% more, but rest assured it does not sound 33% better.
The Marshall Stockwell is heavily discounted right now, and the sound quality vs price point can't be beat. However, it uses its own propietary charger. This would mean I woulf have to carry around another charger just for the speaker. Unfortunately that is a dealbreaker for me.
The JBL Charge4 almost has it all - water resistance, USB-C connectivity, but the sound is just too bass heavy for me.
Hope this helps! The P6 has excellent sound quality, but it does not come cheap unfortunately
I mainly use this for a speakerphone in my office. Works great. Not many Bluetooth speakers offer speakerphone.
I had a Bose soundlink mini with speakerphone, but that one would get unlistenable during a conversation. A reboot would fix temporarily until it happened again. RETURNED that piece of junk.
Totally happy with the B&O. I also have the B&O A1, but like the buttons on the P6 much better.
