Police chief Jesse Stone returns in the newest novel in Robert B. Parker's New York Times--bestselling series, and his newest case hits right at the heart of the Paradise police force.
Jesse Stone is back on the job after a stint in rehab, and the road to recovery is immediately made bumpy by a series of disturbing and apparently racially motivated crimes, beginning with the murder of an African American woman. Then, Jesse's own deputy Alisha--the first black woman hired by the Paradise police force--becomes the target of a sophisticated frame-up. As he and his team work tirelessly to unravel the truth, he has to wonder if this is just one part of an even grander plot, one with an end game more destructive than any of them can imagine.
At the same time, a mysterious young man named Cole Slayton rolls into town with a chip on his shoulder and a problem with authority--namely, Jesse. Yet, something about the angry twenty-something appeals to Jesse, and he takes Cole under his wing. But there's more to him than meets the eye, and his secrets might change Jesse's life forever.

Coleman gets Jesse Stone right!

Parker fans have been disappointed with many of the iterations of Spenser and Jesse Stone since Robert Parker’s death, by various wanna-be’s. Few have successfully found his voice (I’ve totally given up on Spenser!). Reed Farrell Coleman has succeeded, not just in representing Jesse, but by giving a delightful, fresh view of him. COLORBLIND is terrific! Jesse is as complicated as ever with the old “battle with demons” but with the possibility of great success this time and a surprising future. Plot is complex, many characters and motives and timely. Not the end of the line, for sure. And to the “reviewer “ “Brownshoe”: shame on you for revealing a huge, albeit pretty obvious, plot point.

No more Jesse Stone

I'm sorry to say that Jesse Stone is dead like Robert Parker. After reading The Hangman's Sonnet, which I didn't like, and seeing Jesse off to rehab, I had high hopes it was just a blip. So I started reading Colorblind and by page 77 I knew my love affair with Jesse was over. Too bad they couldn't have kept on the same small town cop path that we all grew to love. I am so sick of hearing about the "threat" of white supremacy, and critical race theory, and how bad we all are, I don't need to read about it in my novels. Good bye.
