I mostly play acoustical guitar and my primary reason for this purchase was to use it as a metronome since I prefer a clip-on Snark style tuner for this purpose. That being said, this tuner works really well and I find myself using it more often than I thought I would during practice, simply because it's the same device as my metronome. It's very accurate and tells you what note you are playing, just like my clip-on one. I should also mention that the built-in mic easily picks up my guitar from at least two feet away, which works nice in my setup.
The metronome is simple and works great. I was looking for something that had a visual pendulum style display and not just a flashing LED. This works great for this purpose as I can turn the volume way down (or completely off) and just watch the pendulum. I personally find this helpful when to ween myself off the metronome while learning a particular song. (Or even just to visually check on it once in a while without any audio...)
My only complaint about this metronome is that you cannot change the annoying chirp that it uses for timing. It's just a little to high pitch for me and sounds very synthetic. I wish it had the option to change this to something more pleasant and not as distracting, like wood blocks or something. Even the free iPhone Pro Metronome app has this feature, so it's a little disappointing. I would gladly pay double for this feature, and give it 5 stars.
One last observation: The tuner and metronome are completely independent and can be turned on/off separately and can also both be used at the same time. This may not sound like a big deal, but the way they laid out the buttons and display makes this extremely intuitive....you don't have to fumble through menus to make one or the other work.
