I run Noctua in all my machines but a recent build required more fans than I had headers. This device allowed for an easy install to manage three case fans and reduce the RPMs to get the noise under control. As always, Noctua parts are first class, well made, and of good materials. The instructions are sufficient for the part and there were enough connections to make install easy. The only draw back for me was the power connection. There is no other power connection besides the 15 pin SATA so you'll need an adapter to use standard SATA or IDE power plugs. Otherwise, no issues and a few seconds of tinkering got the RPMs adjusted to run silently while keeping my drive bay cool. Anyway, great quality product.

This is a pretty simple device. Plug a fan into one side, a power cord into the other, and you've got a PWM fan controller. In my case, I used it with Noctua's 40 x 10 5V variant, powered by a USB port. The controller was perfectly happy with this even though it's designed for 12V case fans.
Noctua's fan is very quiet even without PWM control, but slowed down just a little bit and it becomes completely silent.

Great PWM fan controller but over priced

I bought 3 of these for my truenas server which is based on Debian NAS OS. So buying a software based fan controller was out of the question which normally work on windows.
Yes I can control the PWM fan speed based on cpu temperature in Bios. But I would need to reboot the nas server every time I want to adjust the fan speed.
So something like a hardware fan controller would be a perfect solution with the weird CA weather lately.
I have 4 Noctua fans connected to each of this controller using Sata power.
Each sata power provides 4.5 amps of power. Motherboard fan connector is typically provides 1 amp of power. Noctua fan controller can handle up to 3 amps.
It is cool that it comes with 3 way PWM splitter and also an extension cable.
If your are out of sata power you can connect to the motherboard fan header but make sure to stay under your motherboard rated amp for fan header.
Noctua fans are low powered under .20 amp so you can probably use up to 3 fans using a motherboard fan header.
It is very well made and looks like it will last but it is very over priced at 24.99. I would say fair price is 10 to14.99 since it is a single controller.
Cost will really add up if you need to add 2 or more of these + the fan costs.
Regardless it is a awesome PWM controller for specific use case.
