This is my first Surefire light. I took a chance on this light as it was an open box deal. Glad I did because it was in excellent condition and works as you would expect a Surefire light to. Flawless operation with equally good throw and flood. It's no wonder they call the beam pattern MaxVision. I also really like the two output levels. I use the low level most of the time for menial tasks. The high level is ready on the first click for serious use. I had good operation with the supplied Surefire primary CR-123 cell and Titanium Innovations primary CR-123 cell. I have not tried rechargeable batteries since they have greatly reduced capacity. I'm super happy with this purchase.

Obviously this light is at a premium price point for most as an EDC light. Though, I really do believe it’s a good value for what you’re getting. Super nice quality, very bright, and of course great beam pattern as a surefire signature (good blend of throw and spread).
For myself, this is a great size for EDC. It’s a perfect size to hold in pole like grasp without protruding through the end of my hand that much. I will say it was a bit thicker than other lights, though that makes it feel better in the hand. It works good in a Jean pocket, and can work with slacks as well (although a slimmer light may work better for lightweight dressy fabrics).
The finish on the light feels good quality, feels durable like a lot of premium military gear/guns finish. I also think and have seen that the finish wears very nicely.

For someone that has experienced plenty of EDC lights (all of which were less expensive) and that really didn’t understand the surefire appeal, I must say I totally get it now. There’s no issues with the light, inspires confidence with its quality and the durability that it implies, and performs great.

This Surefire E1B-MV is a quality flashlight. I bought this one to replace a Steamlight Pro-Tac that had become quite beat up. The Streamlight still works, and I would have replaced it with the same. However I was looking to try something else. I decided to try a Surefire as a comparison to the Streamlight products I own. Many people, including myself, carry a small flashlight in trouser pockets. I clip the light inside the right front pocket of my pants for easy access. The problem is that the stock switch on the E1B-MV can easily be activated as the switch button is exposed. Surefire recommends partially unscrewing the switch cap when the light is not in use to avoid accidental activation. I have been carrying the light and partially unscrewing the tail cap as recommended after I found the light activated in my pocket on a couple of occasions. I doing some follow-up research, I found the Z68 cap. It seems to be the same switch mechanism (or very similar) and is designed with a protective crown around the switch button. I ordered one and installed it on the light. Now, I no longer have to be "screwing around" with the switch cap in addition to pushing the button when I want light - a pain in one-handed endeavors. Come on Surefire! Another few dollars would probably make this switch endcap standard on the E1B-MV. Anyway, I spent additional $30 on top of the cost of this flashlight to make my E1B-MV a sensible design. I do not understand why this tail-cap switch isn't standard on the Surefire E1B-MV.

Aside from the frustration over the tail cap switch, this Surefire is BRIGHT. It is larger than I initially had hoped for, but I have found it to be fine clipped inside my pocket. I am very pleased with it now that I have replaced the switch.
