An incredible true story, lots of history, and sad of course to remember how europeans treated indigenous people in the americas, starting with Pizarro and Atahualpa but for centuries along the amazon and in the Andes, the local people getting taken as slaves…. The other side is the incredible journey of a wealthy European lady making it through the jungle with no food, shelter or help…. Couldn’t put the book down… thanks Mr. Whitaker.

A long tale of a French scientific exposition of significance in figuring out the earth’s shape as well as longitudes and latitudes . The plot thickens with romance and intrigue, murder and survival . I highly recommend the reading .
