I've purchased and used two Leuchtturm 1917 notebooks (dotted) and three Rhodia notepads (blank and dotted), and I have to say that the Maruman Mnemosyne is my absolute favorite of them all!! The other two are fantastic, but this one fits my needs perfectly. The paper is ultra smooth and thin, just like Rhodia paper, but I love that the spiral is on the widest part of the notebook. The paper is an off-white; it's not as bright white as Rhodia, but not as ivory as Leuchtturm.
Keep in mind that this notebook has the light grey grid the front side and it's blank on the backside of each page. I doodle with my gen pens on the blank side, and practice pointed pen calligraphy on the grid side. With my dip pens, I use watercolor ink and black sumi ink with no feathering or bleeding, and minimal ghosting. I did find that super thin, very watery inks (like J. Herbin) WILL cause feathering and bleeding, but to be fair, I've had that problem with this ink on various different types of paper.
The Mnemosyne can be used horizontally or vertically. I prefer the latter. The front side also has a tiny little bit of text in the corner, near the spiral binding, with some space to write the title and date. The pages are perforated for easy removal.
