I owned a Panasonic cordless phone in the past, and this new phone feels familiar, which is a good thing; the old phone was excellent too. I do notice that the speakerphone max volume is not as loud as with the old phone, but with 3 handsets provided with this product, you won't need room-filling speakerphone volume. In non-speakerphone mode, the handset volume seems loud enough for all but the faintest phone calls, and there is a handy volume control right where your index finger holds the phone.
The answer system is intuitive to use and does exactly what you want. One thing I not right away, however is the light weight of the base and the handsets. In fact, the base would benefit from more mass to reduce the chance of getting knocked over. Putting the handset into the cradle is mostly simple, but it does the charging system does feel a bit cheap, for lack of a better term.
Thankfully, the handsets run off two AAA batteries of Ni-MH type. Since replacements are easy to obtain at a reasonable price, Panasonic has taken a step forward from the days where you had to buy a special battery pack.
Finally, the call blocking system is as simple as can be. When a spammer calls, you just lift the handset and push one button; the call is then blocked. Since the caller ID information comes right after the first ring, you will need to configure the handset to eliminate the first ring of each call in order to not hear spam calls ring at all.
Overall, I am very satisfied with this product.
Within a month of switching to a smartphone, I was really missing my old house phones. Running to find the cell when it rang was a real pain. Then my buddy told me about his Panasonic Link2Cell phone that patched any cell phone calls into his cordless house phones. I was excited!!
After much research, I settled on the KX-TGE463S with 3 handsets. Since I have a cell only configuration, I don't use the built in answering system. Those calls now go to voicemail. The other features are just fantastic and have made answering calls at home just as easy and convenient as it used to be with my landline.
Key features are the ability to download your cell phonebook to the house phones, audible notification of incoming text messages, talking caller ID and the ability to use two cell phones with the system. There are numerous other features like intercom and key fob locator, which I don't use.
Basically, I now have phones around the house where I can make and receive cell phone calls as easily as I did on the landline. Talking caller ID lets me know if I should bother getting up to answer a call. The sound quality is excellent and these phones use the 1.9 GHz frequencies, so they don't conflict with your home wifi. They also have software that cleans up the sound quality (useful on cell calls).
My mother is blind and has long had Panasonic phones with the talking caller ID feature. I was so happy with mine that I bought one of these for her. She has a landline and smartphone. Now, when she's at home all of her calls (cell and landline) will come through the same house phones and clearly announce who is calling.
I highly recommend these for anyone with a smartphone. Now when I come home, I put my smartphone on the charger near the Panasonic base and don't have to worry about missing calls or texts. It makes having a cellphone as convenient as my old landline phones when I'm at home.
