How to Refill Your Fountain Pen

First, prepare your PARKER fountain pen by removing the cap and unscrewing the nib to reveal the empty plunger.

Submerge the Nib

Submerge the nib in ink. Either twist or slide the plunger to draw ink into the cartridge until it’s as full as you’d like.

Remove Air Bubbles

Remove any air bubbles and ensure smooth ink flow by simply twisting or sliding the plunger to force out three drops of ink.

Wipe Away Excess Ink

法国生产，是偏紫的黑色，气味颜色表现都是标准水平。
瓶口很大，估计是同等尺寸墨水瓶中最大的开口吧。和waterman墨水应该是同一家工厂代工的。

One of the easiest, cleanest inks that I have gotten. That's one of 2 positives I have for this product.

SHIPPING: box broke down, literally was the most dangerous way to ship ink. Ever. I don't care if you're trying to save money, Amazon. But you put a glass bottle of permanent ink into flimsy packaging? Think about how you package this stuff, it's fragile.

APPEARANCE: looks like a reused bottle. If it isn't, then I'm surprised. But it's shoddy presentation when the sticker label is slightly torn.

WHEN IN USE: Easy to use when using a converter or piston. but this ink is absolutely horrible for medium nibs or larger (i would imagine if its bigger, it gets worse than a medium nib). It's runny, almost like its watered down. Has a watercolor feel to it when writing. A positive tip is to use this with fine or extra fine nibs, they seem to make it flow more smooth and concentrate the ink.

COLOR: Not black. At least, to a medium nib anyways. The finer nibs make it appear to make it more dark than its true color is. I'd say its a gray or dark grey, at best.

OVERALL: Cheaper doesn't mean better. This is a good, everyday-type ink. Not something to be signing documents with, or writing letters to a special someone. This is the ink that you use to take notes and/or are a broke kid in college.

Personal Prefrence, that's all.

The black is really a gray-blue-black

At first I was disappointed that this "black" ink was more of a dark gray. Then I realized if you dilute this, or blot it onto a towel and then wet it, you can see that the dyes it contains are really a very intense, deep blue that appear black. Depending on the paper you use, it will appear like a very dark gray that skews more blue than warm. Or it will appear like a blue-black.
Now that I know what to expect from it, I rather enjoy it. But if you lay a line of this next to Waterman "Intense Black" ink, you'll see the Waterman black ink is significantly darker and more of a neutral black than the Quink black.

I just got "into" fountain pens. I had one as a kid (schaffer skript cartridge) but so much has changed with the availability of good inexpensive imports. My first pen was a Jinhao 8802 which writes amazing. I tried it with cartridges and loved how well they worked, but something about bottled ink really fascinates me. Not wanting to invest a ton of money into another obsession I choose this Parker ink. SO glad I did. It is a great ink. It is super smooth (of course a lot of credit goes to the pen) and even on cheap lined notebook paper it does not run or bleed. Works amazing well in my twist up converter. Lays down a nice dark bold black line with no fade or splotches. I'm using a fine tip so flow is not an issue with any ink but the way this one flows is so amazing. I remember the skript cartridges would sometimes have some real graininess to the ink and it would be a bit scratchy (especially the black ones, the colored and blue ones were a lot smoother) so I was almost looking for that same scratch in this black ink but nothing but buttery smoothness. I also appreciate the zero odor from this (I remember how some inks we used in art class smelled to high heaven!) I do have a few not bleed issues. This ink does separate when it sits for awhile. Make sure to give it a good shake, then let it sit for a few seconds to allow the bubbles to pop. The ink appears almost a deep Violet in the bottle, not to worry as it goes on black, but it made me nervous the first time I used it. This ink has a long dry time. 13 seconds on notebook paper. My cartridge inks have about an 8 second dry time, so do be aware of the longer dry time (like I said I am new to this so maybe 13 seconds is not that long?) My first use had a huge blob drip out from under the nib. This didn't happen with the cartridges so it is more than likely the converter but it is a good thing I had a paper towel down otherwise I would have had a huge mess. The drip has not happened again but just be sure to have a rag or paper towel down just in case. This is a great beginners ink at a really amazing price point. I use it for general writing and simple doodles (I am not an artist in any way shape or form lol). I love the way this works and looks and will not hesitate to try other Parker inks as I expand my obsession.

Broken ink bottle

The parker ink bottle was totally broken and my hands were fully covered by ink and it wouldn't be removed. I really disappointed at this situation and Amazon Prime service. I'm not sure about making claim here with the photos for evidence but there is no place to upload the pictures so I'm posting right now.

I'm wondering if some of the other comments and low reviews on here about the ink quality were either getting bogus stuff, or stuff that had sat so long on the shelf that it had settled. While I don't recommend shaking it all the time, giving it a good shake when you first get it won't hurt. I got a nice deep grayish black, not a pale fading color like some people had. It should definitely come in a small box and not as a loose bottle though.

Remember the richer the black, the higher the pigment load, which means the more likely it is to clog your pen over time. one of the things about quink that's great is that it doesn't clog the pens easily, and it's relatively easy to clean out if it does...and it has some lubrication qualities that allow it to work reasonably well even on cheap paper.

However if you want nice sharp lines without any feathering or spreading, you do want to use a decent weight, smooth paper. if you're using your typical printer stock or even notebook paper, you're more likely to see spreading and skipping.
