I bought this after struggling to keep my round embroidery hoop tight enough. It was easy to put together, less than 5 minutes, I think.

I loved how the clamps have a groove to keep them from slipping, so when my fabric looked like it was drooping, just a quick turn of the dowel tightened it up perfectly.

I did see someone had mentioned the roughness of the wood, and I do notice it a little as well, but not even enough to make me want to stop my project to do anything about it.

LOVE my frame!

I have never used a frame or hoop for my cross stitch projects. But I have also never done a large scale project before. I knew I needed something to help when I was ready to start going bigger. I didn't like the idea of a split bar frame, as it seemed too easy for the wood to catch on the fabric and cause damage. I loved the idea of a Q-snap frame, but the set size was a limitation for me.
This frame was the perfect solution. It has the snap on clips like the Q-snap, and the scroll frame durability and adjustability. It was so easy to put together and figure out how to use. I quickly had my fabric clipped where I wanted and ready to stitch. The excess is currently rolled around the bottom nice and snug, staying out of my way. I'm careful not to overtighten the knobs, but I've had no issues with them coming loose. This was well worth the money spent!

I love this scroll so much that I have 4 of them. I like to work on several projects at the same time. It prevents my canvases from losing shape and enhances the finished product. It's sturdy and of good quality. If the clips loosen you just have to squeeze them to return them to the original tightness. I had looked at other scrolls before purchasing, but none appeared to be as perfect as this one. After using it for many years, I know my decision was right.

This is my first ever scroll frame. I needed something for a larger cross stitch project. It works well. Fabric does loosen up some with use and needs retightening but that is mostly my doing since I hesitate to tighten too much because I’m afraid I’ll stretch out and misshape my canvas. My reason for not giving it full 5 stars is that the rounded areas such as knobs and tops of posts were rough and would snag on my clothes and furniture (when using on my lap) I had to get sand paper and try to smooth the areas.

This is a sturdy, versatile design. The hardware is robust and the wood is great quality. It's wide enough with multiple clips to hold many widths of fabric.

But the plastic clips don't hold the fabric with a confident 100% Stability. I'd give it an 80% confidence that the fabric will be sound after I used the frame for needle punching.

I don't do needlepoint, but I suspect if a person were doing heavy embroidery, the fabric would also begin to slip and sag.

Would I buy it again? Maybe. But I think I were prefer a frame with hooks or small nails to secure the fabric to.

With light needlepoint, or cross stitch, this would be a great frame.
