Doesn't do much, but here's a trick!

After having the original puck for about 3-4 months (which is a really long time) I decided to replace it. I got this one in the mail and switched it out, expecting great results since we were well passed the lifetime of the original puck. After replacing it, however, my wife and I hardly noticed any difference. For the price, I would expect way more, as these are pretty pricy.

I'll share a trick that I've been doing to help with the smell: every morning after I brew coffee, I dump the used coffee grounds into the top of the Munchkin pail, then the next time we add a diaper it will push them down into the bag. It may sound weird, but coffee grounds absorb odors, and I've definitely noticed a difference in smell. Hopefully this helps someone else!

Hardly practical & very disappointing

I have trusted in the Arm & Hammer brand for decades. The need for a diaper pail recently entered my life and I was certain I had to have this product as a feature in order to control unpleasant aromas.

It seems simple enough- adhere the doublestick adhesive disc to the puck and then stick it firmly against the underside of the lid. Problem solved, right? Not unless it won’t stick to one side or the other. Almost every time I open the lid, it has fallen into the pail and mingled among the discarded bags. Guess what? It doesn’t work well down there! I’m alternating between holding my breath and gagging while reaching inside and fishing around for it so that I can retrieve it and attempt to remount it. I even used a hairdryer to enhance the adhesion between the two surfaces (twice), but it didn’t help. Now I’m about to use some real adhesive like E6000 to make it stay, which will be a pain to remove when I need to replace it.

Am I happy? Not in the slightest. I expected more and got less instead. I’m using scented trash liners, activated charcoal, puppy poop bags (which are also treated with baking soda), disinfectant spray, and I wanted the puck to contribute to my efforts. So far the most effective difference was when I started using the poop bags. Even so, the lid can’t be open for long...

Fresh little pucks

Do you know how your life’s over?……You’re doing reviews for diaper pail fresheners on Amazon. That being said, these little pucks work great for about 30-60 days. Now our son’s closet doesn’t smell like a raging inferno of stench. Plus you probably could play hockey with these things after they’ve eclipsed their lifespan. GAME ON!

Expensive to replace, but a necessity!

These fit perfectly in the diaper pail they were made for, which we also got on Amazon) but I imagine they would fo well in other places, too.

I was surprised that these diaper pail pucks are so expensive and there are no alternatives. I was expecting $3 at the most. Also, I can see the freshener disappearing way quicker than advertised. I bought a few command wire hooks (very lightweight) to stick inside and hang those charcoal packets around the bag.

I am overall satisfied with the no-hands, step diaper pail. We put almost all of the diapers in doggy poop sacks before putting them in the pail. It may sound wasteful, but it contains the smell better than just using them for poopy diapers. The snap and seal bags work well for us. I haven’t really tried the other type since the first sample ran out. The snap and seal goes directly into a large kitchen bag and outside to take to the dump ASAP. Needless to say, I have a pretty good sense of smell, and even these expensive pucks need a bit of help. However, I do consider them our front-line smell absorbers, so I make sure to keep a few extra on hand. I read one reviewer who mentioned going just a few days without it made a huge (and gross) difference. I’ll take her word for it!

I will continue to buy these pucks, but I would love to find them at a better price.

Don't waste money

I bought this because my trash can was nasty and constantly stinking. This is for my inside trash can. I bought it hoping it would help it to smell better. Nope!! There is no smell to it, and it does not 'absorb' any of the nasty smell coming from the can. Worst part is when I stuck it to the inside of the lid, the next time I opened the can, the whole thing had fallen off into the trash can. I dug it out and attempted to stick it on again. Same thing, came back a few minutes later and it had already fallen off again. Do not buy this unless you want to waste your money.
