My son is a high rise window washer and does Brazilian jiu jitsu, so he is always hunched over whether it’s from his harness pulling his shoulders down for 8+ hours a day or grappling at the gym. Needless to say, for a 26 year old, his posture is terrible due to it, and he’s always in pain whether it’s his back or shoulders. Heating pads never work, nsaid’s are a waste of pills that do nothing so why bother taking medication that don’t work? He gets this in the mail and starts rolling around the problem areas and while it looked like he was in pain, it’s massaging deep in the tissue. Unlike a foam roller, its able to target specific areas and he can pin point the problem areas to massage and get to hard to reach areas that regular foam rollers just can’t get to like upper biceps and your traps. After 20 minutes of massaging the areas. He stood up and his muscle pains, while not fully gone, were knocked down TREMENDOUSLY! And this is just after the first use. He’s so excited to continue using it because it’s only uphill from here. I know this is a drawn out review, but I absolutely recommend this to anyone with muscle pains. It will sincerely help.

Garbage within 6 months

This was a great roller ball when it arrived. It was firm but not too hard. After about 4 months of using it maybe 4 or 5 times a week, I noticed that the outside layer seemed to have separated from the ball inside, but it still worked pretty well. A couple months after that, the outside layer broke one morning and white powder started coming out everywhere. The previous TP ball that I had lasted years. This one, 6 months. For the cost, it's just not worth it.

Compared to a lacrosse ball, it’s lighter for travel and not as harsh on the trigger points for beginners. Good first step for trigger point release.
However, a lacrosse ball goes deeper because it is more firm, that means it’s more painful, but the results are much more satisfying. If you currently use a lacrosse ball, you will be disappointed with this softer ball.

Best there is, but still has major flaws

First of all, this is simply the best massage ball there is for shoulder/back/glutes massage. I've literally tried them all. Tennis balls are too soft for most uses, while lacrosse balls usually harder than desired. The hardness and size of this ball is *just right*. And for whatever reason, there doesn't seem to be any other brand that sells individual massage balls of this consistency and size.

However, there is one huge flaw with this ball, which is that the hard walnut-sized core simply isn't fully glued to the outer foam layer. It's glued only in a small spot, which means the more you use this ball, the more the foam will stretch and pull away from the glued spot, and separate from the inner core. Then additional usage will quickly result in tearing the foam. If you use this ball daily for 10 min, expect to have to replace the ball every 3 months or so.

Now is massage is a life saver for you, then dropping $15 on a ball four times a year isn't the end of the world. But it's frustrating because there's no reason for it -- if they just fully glued the inner core to the foam on all sides, there would be no issue. It would last for years.

A smaller nitpick is that the multi-color bands are caused by different densities of foam, so the black circles are softer than the green part. This is advertised as a feature, but it's dumb -- nobody's positioning this along their back anywhere they can *see* it and choose which part of the ball to put pressure against. Plus you're usually rolling along it anyways, so you encounter all parts. The variations in foam density are just pointless.

So TriggerPoint, if you're listening, please produce a new ball that is *fully glued* to the core and uses just a single density of foam!

I have been having major issues with a trigger point in my back. It got to the point where I have been having my husband who is an orthopedic physician assistant inject it with cortisone. That gives temporary relief but isn’t a long-term solution. My EX-husband is the king of researching anything and everything (LOL). I happened to mention it to him while he was working out with our son in my garage and he told me to order this foam massage ball. It arrived yesterday and I truly can’t believe the answer was this simple, natural and inexpensive. I am already feeling a difference in just one day. Don’t hesitate from giving it a try!
