It's not Logitech and that is a good thing

It seems about in the late 2000s, manufacturers really started making products with built-in obsolence. I used to have the wired Logitech thumb trackball mouse and it lasted nearly 7 years. No wonder when they stopped making it, 3rd party sellers were asking over $200 for it. Since there were no more wired, I went to the Logitech M570 as the only trackball option. I use them because they are much easier on my wrists. Unfortunately, I quickly found out Logitech was no longer the same company. The mice only last anywhere from 1-2 years before I had issues and needed a new one. I ended up going through at least 6 of them since 2010. Great for Logitech, horrible for me and the environment as these end up in the trash.
I finally got tired of buying them so tried this brand. It seemed pretty good at first, sometimes the ball/mouse pointer movement being a little janky but not completely off-putting. Well, I'm at over 2 years and now instead of a mouse click problem that usually made me throw out my Logitech, I'm getting intermittent movement on the trackball. What is really strange is is if I turn the mouse upside down, the trackball seems to work better. That tells me the little rollers are getting worn and that they made the little trackball reader inside too sensitive to the height of the ball. We'll see how much longer it lasts but it is very disappointing to see manufacturers NOT make something that lasts. There are over 7 billion people on the planet so I think it is ok to make something that lasts over 5 years and doesn't have to end up in a landfill every 1 or 2 years. That is not good for the environment.
What I would really like to see is replaceable parts such as an insert with new rollers and replaceable left and right click sensors so you are not throwing away an entire product. Regardless, at least Logitech now has some competition in trackballs as for the longest time they were the only ones available. Hopefully, one of these manufacturers steps up to set their product apart from the rest of the pack by making it a long-lasting piece of tech.

Perfect trackball

I've looked long and hard for the perfect trackball. This Elecom EX-G seems to be it. The trackball is operated by the thumb. The left and right buttons are in the right place and even the page forward/page backwards buttons are a mere finger flex away. If you have limited desk space this is ideal.
Okay, it's not for gaming; use a controller or a joystick but for anything else it's great. There's even a left handed version. I prefer the wired version that's no longer available but this wireless one seems to have good battery life so I'll recommend it too.

Good trial trackball

If you're not sure if you'll like a trackball, this is a good entry level device. Left-click isn't quite as responsive as I'd like, and feels a bit flimsy, so I'm probably going back to my upright mouse. A little small for my hand, but would be great for a teen or someone more petite. Also wish it had a 3rd dpi setting, as I'd like to be able to traverse all my screens, ~7000 pixels, with one swipe.
If you're already familiar with trackballs, you'll likely be disappointed. Go Kensington or Belkin or such. But for the price, this is a workable trackball.

I was looking for another option other than the Logitech m570. Quality seems to lack with lifespan to where double clicking is an issue. after going through 3 or 4 of those over the years, I decided to try this one. Its just a mouse, and don't want or need a $75 to $125 mouse. Just something wireless and RELIABLE with a decent lifespan... (decent to me is 2 to 3 years) I like the mouse overall and it suits my needs. I like the extra 3rd programmable button on the right on the Elecom. But, This one lasted 1 year and 3 months before issues started. Don't have the same issues as the Logitech as far as the double clicking issue. for the Elecom the biggest issue was that the scrolling wheel won't respond correctly or is jittery now. say if you scroll down: it scrolls up, then down, then up, then nothing, then a little bit down, etc. all while you are constantly rolling the wheel to go down. 2nd the buttons are starting to not be as responsive. I opened it up to see if dirt or something was inside, but It was totally clean inside. I bought another one, because i know the Logitech's will for sure fail. But it seems to me, no matter if you buy a $15, $40, or $125 mouse, they all have little buttons on circuit boards inside. And all seem to have a life of just so many clicks till failure. Didn't count my clicks over a years time, lol. but in my case no wireless trackball mouse so far last much more than a year, till someone builds stronger quality internal components, none have a good 3 year lifespan with daily use.
