If you are only pedaling your bike, this will probably suite you just fine. I put this in a mid-drive e-bike, and because the chain is no longer wrapped completely around the gear, it skips a bit. I think I'm gonna opt for a long cage derailleur as was originally recommended to me.

Missing mounting hardware
2021年10月23日 -
已在美国亚马逊上发表已确认购买
Update: 3 star
TLDR - Check your shifter cable housing curve and cable tension. You may need longer shift cable and housing. Works with 8 spd 11-40T cassette on a long cage RD with only a 30T max sprocket size.
I returned the 1st purchase and ordered it again. This time I got the correct item with the proper mounting hardware. The hanger installed fine. However, do take extra care to not crossthread the mounting nut into your derailleur hanger. The tolerance, is very right fit. I added some ASC-1 anti-seize compound just to be safe.
I'm working with a Sunrace CSM680 8spd 11-40T, JGBike 36T 1x chainring, and an older Alivio RD-MC20 long cage derailleur that had a stated low max sprocket of 30T.
I popped on my derailleur and proceeded to spend almost an hour trying to tune the shifting. Downshifts worked ok, but it wouldn't upshift from the 40T at all. I played with everything: low limit, barrel adjuster, b-tension, angle of the roadlink. Nothing seemed to work. I was resigned to think that it would not be my day and I was never gonna get this thing to work. Perhaps it was the derailleur. Perhaps the roadlink was never intended for 8 spd. I didn't know. I even ordered a new 8sp derailleur that supported a 34T max sprocket just to rule that out. I gave up in defeat.
The next day, I decided to give it one more go to see if I can spot the problem. I don't know if it was fresh eyes or the coffee, but I noticed that the shift cable housing was at a very tight angle. That was the eureka moment that I needed. The extra length of the hanger moved the position of the housing, adding unnecessary tension on the shift cable. I busted out a new longer cable housing and viola, everything fell into place. Shifting was crisp and fast.
Hindsight is 20/20, but it was really tough to figure out in the moment. Wolftooth should really add some quick tips in the product card that comes with the extender. That would've saved me and probably others a lot of headache. And I was able to cancel the new RD order in time.

I was all excited to give this a go, only to find out it was missing the mounting screw.

Rear derailleur insurance

I ride steel hardtails and if you do too or don't have a replaceable rear derailleur hanger buy this! Buy two. I have a 2004 Jamis exile that I have constantly upgraded over the years. Only thing still original is the frame, bottom bracket and truvadiv isis drive crank arms. I have converted this bike to a 1X drivetrain with the purchase of a BOX Prime 9 series 1X9 setup. While the BOX Prime 9 derailleur initially wouldn't line up, I bought both of the Wolf Tooth MTB versions of this link and they moved the rear derailleur too far away. A review of this road link said it worked for MTB's too. I bought and was able to dial in the shifting quickly and perfectly (buying a new Jagwire cable set here also helped). So why do I call this insurance? Well, have you ever lost your balance riding a skinny and slid off the left side of it bashing the ride side/ drive side of your bike on the skinny damaging your rear derailleur? I did, and this piece snapped in half brilliantly saving my derailleur. I don't think this is what Wolf Tooth had in mind when they manufactured this part, but if something is gonna break on the trail, let it be this. If you have the right tools, and a spare (it's cheap enough) toss this on. Worst case, take the two haves off and remount the derailleur directly to the welded on hanger.

Seems to be the answer

Initially, when coming up with the idea of converting to a single (and having to get a larger rear cassette to still give me some low end) I was thinking I'd need a long cage derailer, however I realized that chain wrap wasn't the issue, clearing the jockey wheel over the larger sprocket was.
I used this to make my 105 short cage work with an 11-36, coming from a 12-30. The front double was also converted to a single. It's only been one bike ride, but setup was pretty easy - I flipped my B screw and bolted everything on. Only had to bring in the high a little bit and shifting was OK. It is not quite as sharp as it was pre-RoadLink, due to the length, but it's acceptable. I am experiencing sloppier/missed shifts on the smaller cogs, but I figure I can do some adjusting to clean that up. So far, so good! I hope that the increased length doesn't cause my bike's integrated-into-the-frame hanger to bend out of alignment more easily, or snap off. I'll update this if I'm unable to get the gears to operate as nicely as I'd like - I'm very picky about shifting and there's nothing worse than taking off from a busy intersection, or somewhere else potentially hazardous, and you have a sudden and unexpected gear change while cranking the pedals for your life.
UPDATE after a little under a year of use:
Shortly after writing the first part, I made some adjustments and shifting is just fine. It seems to be 50/50 whether it'll get all the way into the "10th" gear (the smallest one) since I had to do some tuning to prevent it from running the chain off the sprocket and jamming it between the smallest gear and the frame. So, yeah, you'll lose a touch of fineness that comes with the 105 group, but it's nothing terrible. Running a single chainring has overall been a huge improvement, and I'm sure if consumers weren't so mis-information "More is Better" oriented, more bikes would come this way from the get-go.
EDIT again:
I've now got an 11-42 in back instead. Seems to work OK even though WT claims it's not supported. FYI, the SunRace cassette COMES WITH a bootleg RoadLink! Might just save ya $20. Doesn't have fancy stuff etched into it though, but it does appear to be of pretty decent quality...
