Wonderful material, poor editing.2015年7月3日 - 已在美国亚马逊上发表
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It was fairly comprehensive and beautifully put together. The only complaint I have is with the editing. Nearly every other page in the book is plagued with missing words and grammatical errors. Some proofreading and editing would have definitely been beneficial before publishing.
Best Sketch book on how to draw and paint to achieve sketchbooks you can be happy with!2015年10月9日 - 已在美国亚马逊上发表
I have several books on Urban sketching, and sketchbooks in general. Most have examples of beautiful pages of the authors sketchbook, but really very little in the way of how to improve your drawing and painting skills so that you can do it too. But this book has such clear, beautifully formatted (uncluttered) examples of how to draw and paint, that it makes me feel that I can someday do beautiful sketchbooks too! The author has worked for Disney, I wonder if he took their Drawn From Life classes, because his teaching is certainly excellent. Very nice step by step examples. The aim of the book is to teach you, not to just show you page after page of the authors beautiful sketches as other books do.
A Helpful Book for the Urban Sketcher Beginner2017年5月30日 - 已在美国亚马逊上发表
I recently discovered the work of MArc Taro Holmes while searching urban sketching. I was eventually led to his blog and then this book. If you are new to the idea of urban sketching i would definitely pick up this book. It's a wonderful addition to any library. There are exercises, helpful step by step photos and of course stories. His approach is pretty straight forward and easy to comprehend. If you've also wanted to get introduced to using pen and watercolor you will find this book very helpful.

This is a great book for those of us who know deep down that the only way to move forward with any semblance of an artistic life is to just draw, sketch, paint, etc. every darned day. I've known this for years and years, and yet this book has finally got me carrying the simple tools to sketch with me in my purse everywhere I go. This is the only way to improve, and it is also a major way to bring a little joy and a sense of satisfaction to every day. It's great to be inspired, and we all need that, but This Book has moved me to action! I'm grateful for that.
