At first glance, I loved this show. It has several positive noteworthy components. The language of the show is appropriate for a child, the animation is crisp, and there is a strong female firefighter. Most importantly for me was that my child was not terrified by it, as most shows meant for children seem to send him to cower behind the couch.
Here are the major problems I have with the show. Upon watching for a few episodes, you learn that there are only about a dozen people living in a remote town. Half of said townies are full time firefighters. I might have been able to overlook that impossibility. However I cannot ignore that about 85% of the emergencies in the town were caused by a young boy named Norman Price.
I hate that typically this is the show's main conflict. Did the creaters ever stop to think that children will begin to emulate not the grown up firefighters, but the child who they can relate to more???
We have not watched the show in over a month and my child still often talks like Norman. Thank goodness my child is behaved enough not to do most of the stuff Norman did. My least favorite episode was when Norman started a forest fire and they had to evacuate the town. The town was saved by a rain storm! I almost cried.
I really want to give this show one star, but as I said earlier, it has some redeeming qualities.
Really though, don't let your kids watch this show unless you want them to think about starting fires.
