Insertion Tips Earplugs must be inserted correctly for optimal effectiveness. Insert the plug by grasping the end cap and inserting until the largest flange is sealed in the ear canal. To ease insertion, pull outward and upward on the ear. Moistening eases insertion of 3 flange eartips. Roll down or compress foam before inserting then hold in place for 5 seconds while the foam expands. ER20XS are reusable but with repeated use the eartips may lose elasticity. For best performance, if you use your ER20XS constantly, consider replacing the eartips every 3-6 months.	Fit and Care Standard fit 3 flange is the best fit for 80% of the population. Large fit is best for 15%. Clean after each use by wiping with a damp cloth. Do not immerse the earplugs in water. Do not clean with harsh chemicals. Alcohol is not recommended.

As a long-time motorcyclist, I eventually came around to the idea that I would have to do something to protect my hearing against the constant wind noise rushing around my helmet. For years, I used the bright orange foam earplugs you find at a shooting range, but these are (a) uncomfortable, and (b) they don't just reduce sound, they seem to muffle and distort it, like placing a hand over your mouth as you speak.

I'd heard about musician's earplugs for some time, and always figured I'd get around to trying them eventually, then when I read a review at my favorite motorcycle website extolling the virtues of Etymotics, I decided the time was now.

There's no going back. The Etymotic earplugs really are a breed apart from the foam cheapies. I like to say that they "turn down the volume" without changing the quality of the sound. You can still hear everything—highs and lows and midrange still get through, just with less intensity.

Etymotics fast became a staple of my motorcycle commute, but soon enough I started carrying them with me to movie screenings, live music events, anywhere I would encounter sustained loud noise.

Sure, they feel a bit odd the first time you put them in. But the upside was definitely worth the short period of adjustment. I can easily sit through a movie or a concert without itching to remove them. When the time comes to take them out, the little tabs are just the right length to make it easy to grab hold of them. They don't stay clean for long, but since I don't share my pair with anyone else, it's not an issue. Give them a once-over with a Q-tip, and they're presentable again in no time.

I just got a couple more sets to give as Christmas presents to friends who enjoy live music. Give musician's earplugs a try, and I have a feeling you'll become a convert, the way I have.

I don't know how I ever survived concerts without these!

I got these in anticipation for a 4-day rock festival, and the difference they made was HUGE!
I didn't use the neck-strap; my review is about the plugs themselves only.

Pros:
* Clear sound
* Filters noise / reverb / crowd
- The best I can describe this is to compare it to when a car stereo is too loud and as a result the end of the sounds are "clipping" with a bit of fizz. Live shows suffer this problem, too, and these earbuds really filter that out. I can hear the vocalist so much better and it tunes out the sounds of the immediate surrounding crowd, to, so no more ear bleeds from that girl with the high pitched fangirl shriek.
* Felt like the vocals were crisper and easier to hear (Vocals always sound overshadowed at live shows for me)
* Still can converse with those around me
* Snug fit; I don't worry about them falling out.

Cons (User error?):
* The pegs are a bit long, and I feel like sometimes if I push them in so that I don't feel them slipping, it hurts.
* When I'm eating they start to push out, which is a ticklish sensation (Could be I've got them too far in my ears to start with)
* Until I got used to them, they left my ears a little raw (After 8+ hours of wear though this is probably expected for baby's first concert earplugs)
* Not the most pleasant to remove; you really want to make sure you get that twist going and you pull slowly; sometimes one of the flaps starts to bed backwards and creates a catching sensation; seems to only be a problem with prolonged (4+ hours) wear.

These earplugs are very comfortable even though I don't normally like in-ear type headphones. The deep insertion triple flange tips work very well for me although that will be very personal but the material is nice and soft and pliable without any seams. They also do a pretty good job of keeping a more even frequency response. It still feels like you have something in your ears and they probably reduce the upper most frequencies slightly more than lower ones so while you can for sure tell you are wearing earplugs they work quite well for their purpose and I have no issues listening to music with them.

Definitely would recommend and have gifted these to my family

I go to a lot of concerts and luckily haven't had any long term damage, but I figured the risk of long term issues isn't worth it. I havent used earplugs before so I didnt want to get anything too expensive to start with, my priority was finding something cheap and these hit the mark. The quality overall was great, I didn't know what to expect but I had no ringing in my ears that night or the following day.

I used these for a 12+ hour festival and a hard-core show where I was in a small GA section in front of the stage. Both instances these were highly valuable. They did start to become a bit uncomfortable during the festival after so many hours, but I think that is mostly due to the fact I have a large ring in my daith piercing that makes any plugs or headphones not fit 100% correctly if they go into my ear. That being said they did fit well enough and I will absolutely continue using them. The little storage pouch was also very nice to attach to my belt loop when I wasn't wearing them

I recommend these for people picking up their first pair of earplugs or if you are prone to losing them.
