Lori King has the wonderful talent of letting her readers ride along with her characters. The ride in this book takes us through Roman Freemont's life. Romeo as he is known by all is a scarred, scared, little boy when he is brought to Crawley Creek Ranch as a child. Here he learns he has worth and how to grow up strong in character by his "new" family. He has new brothers and is accepted for who he is. Romeo is devastated when he loses the only father he has ever known, and the guilt he feels is eating him alive. If he had only been there when he was supposed to be...Abe Crawley wouldn't have been doing Romeo's job. Now all romeo does is drink and womanize...passing out where ever he is when he drops. Can he get his act together before its too late? Will his family have to step in and wake him up to the trouble he is in?
Franki Scott is the answer Romeo needs to a question he doesn't even know he wants to ask. Franki is only in town to find her missing sister. But when destiny seems to take a hand in her life and she finds herself staying at the Crawley Creek Ranch while her motorcycle is repaired. Romeo and Franki have much more in common than they know. and when things start getting intense for Franki...It is Romeo and his family that step in to help.
The characters grow and seem to mature with each page you turn in Ms King's fantastic third installment of the Crawley Creek Series. While the first book and the pre-quel were very short reads. This book is longer and has richer detail. The secondary characters are just as real and you find yourself wanting to know everything about them. I look forward to reading more in this series. Ms. King's skill at weaving a story are as mesmerizing and enthralling as any of the finest authors throughout time. 5 Stars!
