The fabric is very soft, and the mesh panel in the back allows much more airflow than the Kinderpack or the LILLEbaby (I tried them all). The panel that covers the mesh for cooler weather buttons on, so if you're handy with a sewing machine you could make your own panels for a change of pattern.
Everything is included in the box; the back panel, drool pads, sun hood, extended head rest for taller babies/toddlers, and an integrated infant harness.
My son is too big to have tested the infant harness, but so far he's much happier spending time in this carrier than he was in the Ergo.
My only issue (hence 4 stars), is that the shoulderblade/chest strap did pop off a couple of times. It "slides" on to some wire piping on the shoulder straps, so a good exuberant bounce and it may come loose. It's easy to fix however, and it hasn't happened since I adjusted the fit slightly.
I've had a few issues. While it's great that the buckle that goes between the shoulder straps slides very easily on it's tubing tracks, occasionally it's slid all the way off the tracks when I was trying to adjust it, making me have to take off the carrier completely and rethread it. Frustrating, but once you're aware it does it, you can be careful to watch to make sure not to slide it too far. So not a deal breaker at all, a very minor issue really.
I had issues with the elastic pieces as well, along the safety waist catch and the elastic that holds the rolled up excess strapping: they're unraveling after only washing the carrier delicately as instructed a couple times. The company is going to take care of this for me, but I don't know if this is a common issue.
I have found this to be fantastically comfortable for front and back carries. It is summer now and we have the front panel off, she is getting some airflow.
This is truly a carrier for the newborn to toddler stage!
