Great amiibo for Pokemon fans

Lucario, being exclusive to Toys R Us, is one of the hardest amiibo to find. It kind of bothers me that half the Pokémon characters in the SSB line are store exclusive, making them pretty expensive online if you weren't lucky enough to get a preorder or camp outside the store on launch date. If you're a Pokémon fan, I highly recommend this along with the other SSB Pokémon amiibo.
As for figure itself, Lucario, like Pikachu before, looks a lot like the official Pokémon toys, minus any articulation. The fur he has on his torso is much more detailed than on most other merchandise I've seen of the Aura Pokémon. The supportive plastic keeping Lucario bound to the stand is in an awkward spot, kind of like the ones on Luigi and Captain Falcon. It just seems weird that they went with that choice to put it. They couldn't have put it on his feet or something?
As a fan favorite to both the casual and competitive audiences of Pokémon, Lucario is a nice figure to have. Currently, no other games to my knowledge can use Lucario for a special purpose outside of Smash. Maybe if Pokken Tournament gets a Wii U port with a worldwide release, maybe Lucario, a well as Pikachu (and Charizard, Jigglypuff, Greninja, and Mewtwo if they get confirmed.) can be used for them. Either way, if you're a Pokémon fan or trying to collect 'em all, Lucario is a very nice addition to your team.

Like many people, I have been trying to collect every amiibo. But I actually enjoy using them, rather than keeping them indefinitely trapped in their plastic prison. So these Japanese and EU region amiibos are great for me, since they are usually cheaper than North American ones, and only the box is different, which I open anyway. I also like the option of having one come in two days with Prime rather than waiting forever on an eBay option. So while it is regrettable that they are still higher than MSRP here, it's still better than nothing.

As you can see in my photos, the physical amiibo figure is literally the exact same across all regions, including the writing on the bottom of the platform. And they are all region free and will work an any region Wii U.

Lucario can be used in a major way in Super Smash Bros 3DS/Wii U, and in a minor, generic way in Mario Party 10, Hyrule Warriors, and Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker.

It's too bad the supply issues are so rampant on these, because they are actually very high quality figures. The paint/art and modeling is done very well on them, and they all look very nice on my display shelf.

So if you are like me and don't care about all the boxes matching, or you open all your amiibos, this is a fantastic option!

Packaging: When the Japanese Lucario Amiibo arrived, its packaging is identical to the western Amiibo packaging. The notable differences are the Japanese text and the inclusion of an Amiibo Manual below Lucario. Otherwise, nothing significantly different. The Amiibo is well-packaged and unlikely to become loose. As a matter of fact, it's shaped like a plastic case that you can use to store the Amiibo, even after opening it.

The Amiibo itself: Lucario's details capture his actual appearance accurately. His fur has some neat hair detail and his eyes are printed perfectly. His pose can cause his feet and tail to stick out from the base a bit, but it's stiff and highly unlikely to break off. There's also a sturdy clear stand that positions him well.

In-Game: At the moment, it works with some games like Hyrule Warriors, but most notably on Super Smash Bros. Wii U/3DS. It maybe a Japanese version of the Amiibo, but it can work with ANY WII U & NEW NINTENDO 3DS/3DSXL because Amiibos aren't region-locked. Otherwise, Lucario can settle it in smash better than anyone else can when trained and customized properly.

Overall: Great Amiibo. The only real difference is just the packaging and an extra manual in Japanese, but it's as capable as any other Amiibo! Lucario is not going to disappoint any Nintendo fan (except when he levels up to the maximum level 50 and becomes your own unbeatable rival).

My intention was to display two of these and have one removed from the box... Unfortunately only one came with no damage and the other two had the corners bent over and torn. I think the worst part was expecting the Japan import version of the amiibo and receiving a European/Western equivalent... If I wanted those I would've paid less money and received boxes without the excessive damage listed as "new" products.
