I wish I had read the reviews before I purchased this! The only force necessary to slide the beads downward is gravity. The black cord on this item is about 1mm narrower than the white cord on the ladies' "bling" stroke counters. So when it's doubled it makes a major difference. I'm still debating whether to return or repair this item, but it can't perform its function in its current state.
I should note that the counter seems to have undergone a redesign since the photo was taken. Instead of the cord ends being knotted, as is still the case with the white-cord counters, both black cord ends are glued into a single teardrop-shaped piece of black plastic. Speculation: after finalizing the redesign someone actually tested it and realized the original (wider) black cords wouldn't fit into the teardrop, so a narrower cord was substituted.
