It's flashing light is quite attractive, and a great feature! Generally people like to give a speech (on milestone birthdays), before cutting the cake. If you light the candles and then start with your speech, the wax from the candle runs down. So we just turned the flashing light on first. This was an indication for everyone to gather round the cake. The cake looked "nice and lit" with the lights, while the speech and toasts were made. And then we lit the candles before cutting the cake.
I am very happy with this purchase. And for everything you get, it is quite reasonable priced.
