The first surprise out of the box was just how big these blocks are. I've been tuning skis and snowboards for over 20 years and the Hyper X wax melted in smoothly and scraped away cleanly and held a good texture after structuring the base. It also has a very pleasant tropical smell which while decidedly not why you buy a wax made working with it very pleasant.
Performance on the snow was phenomenal. I went snowboarding on a 25° F day on very icy snow and it held up all day, gliding smoothly as fast as my middle-age body cared to go. get yourself a good thrift store iron and Plexiglas scraper and structure tail to tip with some Scotch-Brite and you're good to go. Easily enough wax here to keep the family's boards tuned for a few seasons.
