I tried the scissor mole traps with limited success because the triggers were too heavy. I had a smaller mole doing crazy damage in my side yard, and those traps couldn't catch it. In fact, on more than one occasion the mole would move his tunnel around the thing.

Not so with this one. Not only is the trigger tension adjustable from stout to hair, but by design the device straddles the mole tunnel so you don't have to introduce much interference into the tunnel itself, so the mole gets little warning that something's amiss. It's just a better design than the scissors, and I would say mostly for the trigger sensitivity. Also entirely rust-resistant metal... I had a trap from a big box store where the bolts rusted and seized. Like they didn't expect it to be used outside.

Anyway rant over. Buy it if you want to kill moles.

Pesky moles all over my lawn. This trap works fine. My son has "the touch". He's gotten several of them.
They say Grub X is the answer. I tried for years, spent $$, now it's war. LOL. Anyway the trap works.
What you need to know is,
1. It's best to borrow/rent a roller and flatten all the mole trails.
2. Watch the moles daily. Each day, walk on the trails. Choose the most used trails.
Set the trap:
1. Flatten a small section of the trail, maybe 4", as wide as your shoe.
2. Push the trap into the ground into this flattened area.
3. Before setting it, work the spikes up and down to ensure no roots or stones slow them down.
4. Set the trap. Watch your fingers, they can "bite".
5. Ensure the trigger plate is extremely close to or actually touching the ground.

For best results, I'd suggest buying at least 2 of these. I have an acre and that's the minumum. 4 would work better.

Moles in the yard. Bought two of them. Made great but don’t work. I followed the instructions and put it right on the tunnel. Never went off as they tunneled right around it. It should be labeled for gofers only not moles.

Will not work on a mole as the metal legs go into most tunnels and the mole burrows around it.
