This puzzle has very high quality pieces. If you feel any tightness or see 0.1mm misalignment when putting two pieces together, it means they don't match and you have picked wrong pieces. The picture on the box can give you some hints about the rough shape of each pieces (e.g., how many "u" and "n" edges a piece at the position has), but the shapes on the picture are very inaccurate.
It was just a fantastic experience to finish this puzzle. I thought I would take years to finish it (well, without help from my computer). Finishing every piece was just a piece of joy. I believe no other puzzles can make more fun than this.
I spent a few days to classify all pieces based on different shapes:
(a) with straight edges (on the borders)
(b) with all "n" edges
(c) with all "u" edges
(d) with a single "u" edge and three "n" edges
(e) with a single "n" edge and three "u" edges
(f) with top & left "n" edges and right & bottom "u" edges
(g) with top & bottom "n" edges and left & right "u" edges
and finished all borders and pieces in (a) to (f) connecting to borders but except any (g) pieces. There are 1562 (g) pieces! And they just look very similar to each other!
At that time, I knew that I had to write some code to help me find all matches under such a difficult situation :) It turned out that it was still a non-trivial and time-consuming task even, with the help of my program. I spent the nights of almost three weeks, and finally I finished the last piece at the night when AlphaGo beat Lee Sedol in the third match :)
