Installation was predictably challenging as the space under our kitchen sink is not huge - To be clear, there was plenty of space, but its always difficult to tighten connections maneuvering around a sink...
The hoses that connect from your cold water supply to the filtration unit, and from the filtration unit to the spout are a narrow gauge hard plastic. Those hoses connect through a "push to connect" mechanism into the filtration unit - but use a sort of compression + bolt system to connect to the cold water line and the spout - and here is where the issue is.
Connection to the cold water line is fairly stable - there is a copper insert that ensures that the hose is not able to pull out from the bolt that connects to the cold water line - when you tighten the bold, there is a small plastic ring that compresses to create a water tight seal.
For some inexplicable reason, the insert for the hose to connect to the spout is made of plastic and DOES NOT ensure that the hose cannot be pulled through the connecting bolt. Since the waterline is under constant pressure, and the connection to the spout is a vertical one, AND the spout will undoubtedly rotate during use no matter how tightly you anchor it, the vertical hose connection is a disaster waiting to happen.
You could get really lucky and have that connection never fail.
You could get sort of lucky and have it fail while you are using it - this way you will be alerted to the fact it failed by the uncontrolled stream of water spewing from under your sink
You could get mildly lucky and have it fail when you are not at the sink, but have a water detection alarm in place
You could get unlucky and have it fail when you are not home, or in the middle of the night. An open cold water line will dump an absolute TON of water.
Solutions: Its always a good idea to have water detection alarms under your sinks
We applied upward pressure on the vertical hose with a rubber band (not recommended)
We reinforced the connection by wrapping the bolt/hose section with flex tape.
Conclusion: any under sink system you buy online in the price range of this unit is going to be made with less than ideal part - guess that's just part of the bargain. If you do decided to use this system, or any system of this kind, install a simple under sink water leak detection alarm (they are not expensive and have saved us in our apartment in NYC many times - waterline hoses are rated for 3-5 years, but most people never replace them unless they actually fail).
For this unit specifically, REINFORCE the vertical hose connection to the spout.
Water: On a positive note - water taste is good - water flow is reasonable, and we def like the fact that you replace the inner part of the filter instead of the entire filter itself - this is much more eco freindly.
