I don't understand all the negative reviews here. I purchased this board a bit over a year ago and it lives on my kitchen counter right next to the sink (makes it easy to scrape scraps off directly into the sink). I use this board every day. Like all end-grain boards it is "very thirsty"... in the year that I've owned it is has soaked up almost a full gallon of Boos Block Mystery Oil and a tube of their Board Cream. One big word of advice: Oil the board heavily on both sides and edges at least 6 times before beginning to use any Board Cream. Let the board sit overnight, wipe it down, then let it sit another day before oiling it again, repeat this process 5 more times. You'll be amazed just how much oil that this thing will absorb. Then, after the last oiling, apply a light coating of the Board Cream. I like to scrub the board down with warm soapy water about once every 30 - 45 days, let it dry overnight, then apply a few heavy coats of Mystery Oil, allow it to soak in, give it a wipe down, and apply a coat of Board Cream. If you treat this, or any other end-grain board it should last you a lifetime. Much like a carbon steel chef knife vs a stainless steel one... if proper maintenance seems like too much work then then you should stay away from an end-grain board and stick with an edge-grain one.
PS - I would also recommend placing a bench cookie (see photo) under each corner of the board which will keep it from moving around while allowing air circulation underneath.
