Not the best VHD ever.

I waited for a year for this book. I was hoping for something that would measure up to the other volumes in the series. It was poorly lacking in what I have come to expect of Kikuchi's books. It was mostly about the other characters that D found. In fact D seemed like an extra rather than the main character. He didn't even do any of the really awesome action scenes that we have come to expect. Though not attrocious, this is hardly one that I feel like reading again. It was, to sum it up, tedious. It could have actually been a fifty page story without loosing a lot. Sadly, I will have to wait until the next addition in the Vampire Hunter D saga to be blown away again.

The usual top notch stuff by writer Kikuchi. If you like VHD, you'll enjoy it as it stays in the vein that previous novels had, though it's just a touch brief, which is why I didn't give it 5 stars.

This episode was full of some extremely Lovecraftian settings, and some really great action. Definitely better than the Tyrant's Stars quartet, and I really enjoyed the story.

Great book in the series, a little short but good. Some people think Hideyuki's books are predictable but the story is not about who lives or dies but the choices that lead them there. While D is the vehicle that takes you on the journey.
