What a wonderful book! I think every child in this country should have this book as mandatory reading! It is a story of the horrors of slavery and the resilience of one man who refused to turn bitter of be broken by a system he was born into. It is the story of a man who's faith sustained his remarkable life from slavery to freedom. Harriet Beecher Stowe's muse, Josiah Henson is a true hero and a man I will never forget!! This was a FANTASTIC read!!!

Enjoyed learning of this important person in the history of our country. He was a man to be admired for his faith and strength of purpose. The confusion and connection with Harriet Beecher Stowe's "Uncle Tom" was interesting. Should be required reading in the nation's schools.

This man was a genius! I am a reader, but have never read an autobiography before. It is fascinating to view this man's life through his own pen. Born into slavery in 1789, he became an international businessman and ate at King's tables!
